What are you using, a modded 85cc woods saw or an '02 Honda CR-500 hotsaw? Let's forget for a moment that you're in hardwood. I had a conference call last night with a few notables from AS who know a helluva lot about this stuff. Let's just say that if you didn't have a credibility issue before, then you certainly do now. The best times any of us have ever seen or heard of for 25" logs in SOFTWOOD are about 12-14 seconds using a real tweaked woods saw fitted with a racing chain. Maybe your log was 25" in circumference. Rotten? This has nothing to do with Dan Henry's saw building prowess either.

By the way, aren't you supposed to be up in Colebrook clearing that land on Sunset? You said you were going there for the rest of the month on last Thursday. There hasn't been any more snow up there in the last 5 days.

Also, I went over a few of your more recent posts and I can't quite figure out how you can squeeze in 12-15 hour days out in the bush with your 15 pound saw at your side when I haven't seen a gap of more than 7 hours in any of your post times between the hours of 5AM and 12 midnight. Do you log the third shift?

No offence taken Doug. Here is a good example of why I never post any cutting times on the saws that I build.
I think that it would help if Doug and Rob would get together and run that slow PP385.They could take turns running the saw and timing the cuts.I am curios to see the results.I think that they do live close to one another. It might help Doug out with his decision between the 385 or the 066.

In all reality timed cuts mean jack shi$ ??? Especially with a woods modified saw.
I doubt that anyone carry's a stop watch to the woods with them
If your out in the bush making a living off a saw "IMO" all you care about is seeing how much timber you can put on the ground in the shortest time possible. And that your saws lives long enough to pay for its self.. I have no Idea how fast Robs 385 is but I will say if Dan did the mods, It run's extremely well..
"IMO"

Dan is the east coast Ken Dunn.......

Doug, dont be silly. Everyone knows that theDeere 948G skidder has a built in laptop and wireless net connection as a option. He probaly just surfs on breaks.

I am getting so tired of reading about Rob I am just cold to this whole post. I also didn't think People in New Hampshire had wireless internet.

Dan,
I don't see any problem posting cutting times as long as one pays attention to details. If the times are off by a second or so in 10, then this can be attributed to different conditions. Certainly, there's no better way to compare two saw motors than at the same time, with the maximum amount of variables neutralized. Same log, same sawyer, same chain, same bar, etc. Beyond the general credibility issue here, what I have a problem with is that many people who have nothing to contrast these times to will take them as being close to what can be achieved and be seriously disappointed by there own results. I'm sure you can understand that there's simply no need of this kind of gross misrepresentation. Like my dad always told me, "Consider the source".

Thanks for the good faith, "kill two birds with one stone" idea about trying out the saw, but I'll just spare myself the fluff and fly out to California next month where I know the personel are experienced and above board. That's one variable out of the way right off the bat.

BTW my 044 bwalkerized cuts a 30" log in 6 sec flat. The tuning I do is secret, but it includes the liberal use of a rotary rasp and a super mix made from Tide, Rislone, STP,hydrazine, peroxide and a liberal dose of slippery eel oil.

Ben,
I unconditionally advocate the use of hydrazine as a fuel additive for chainsaws. Only slightly less volatile than nitroglycerine, it's the best bang for the buck mod one can do to a saw. I hear it's great when used as a substitute for hydraulic oil in skidders, too.

amen Dan
Maybe Doug is afraid to go see him ????
I realize Rob is not one of Doug's in crowed but it sure sound like the easiest way to end this mess once and for all..................

I would like for some AS members to know, I posted that I would be willing to meet with Rob since I go to VT everyother weekend. Plans are for me to meet with Doug this coming weekend in the area where Rob will be logging. I am waiting on Robs email to seal the deal this weekend.

Bwalker I cannt' remember the exact wording but Wiley Coyote mixed plutonium 225, 2 drops of olive oil and a dash of anchovies to get things rolling.

Well time for me to get my new chains on my make believe skidder Oh that's right it's a Honda Four trax.

Well fellas I'm sorry if there is'nt one person here that believes me,and if anyone wants to meet me or see my stuff you can ask not tell or just show up but the way I have been treated by Doug I do NOT want him anywhere near me or my property.. I've been trying to just let this stuff blow over but it seems like every single time I make a post I'm being wolf packed by all you guy's and personally don't appreciate it at all..I'm sorry everyone here feels the way they do towards me but I don't know what to tell you..

Rob.

Rob, You have been caught in multiple lies so you dont have any credibility. Add to that the fact that you claim to have multiple pieces of very spendy equipment and that you are 19 and it raises further doubt. Prove us wrong by buying a digital camera for $175 and snap some shots of your equipment with you running it. No one would have anything else to say to you after that besides making a appology.

Ben,

Not to take sides in this fiasco, but I do recall reading somewhere that Rob had lost his parent(s) to get that money.  That's usually not much of a fair trade.

I'm intently watching to see how this all unfolds.  It could just be that he's not a stickler to detail the way some of us are.

Actually I believe it was his grand parents that he claims to have inherited the money from.

Yes Ben your correct it was my grandparents that passed away and I inherited alot of money and thats how I bought some of the equipment I have..And on a personal note I know where you guys are going with this and I don't want to hear any Sh!t about my family passing away it's bad enough it happened this way..I don't really care about you bashing me but don't bring my family into this.
