Guys, Being somewhat new to this and do not know what if anything will happen for me during the winter, I was wondering how you prepare your saws. Do you run them to they run dry, or do you use Stabil fuel stabilizer? What is best for the saws? Hate to keep asking questions, but I get great ideas and responses and I appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

I run the synthetic oil and it has a fuel stabilizer in it. I've had no issues of any kind. I just shut them off when the work is done. I also tend to run my saws every one to two months so maybe I keep enough fresh fuel moving thru it to avoid problems. I have heard of problems with stabil type products affecting the tune of saws and causing them to burn up. (lack of oil and or changing the air to fuel ratio.)

If you are going to shelve them for a few months...then dump the old fuel and pull the cord until they won't run. Old gas will ruin a saw, even with various stabilizers. Why risk it? It's just a few ounces of fuel.

Dump the old gas and buy a can of Trufuel and pour a little in and start the saw so it goes into the carb then store it. Trufuel has a shelf life of 2 years i believe.

I work through the winter here, I have 11 saws, I winterize 6 of them like others have said, dump the fuel tank dry, give the cylinder a slight fogging. Take tension off the chains. Mine are all kept in my basement.

If ya do work in the cold, keep that bar oil in the cab, next to that heater!

Thanks to all you guys that responded. That is what I needed to know. Thanks. But one other question, the fuel that is mixed in all my different cans, will it be OK till Spring? I do not want to throw it out. One of my mixes is 40/1 for my saws and I have one that is 32/1 for my Alpine Magnum 3120 Husky.
Thanks again for all your help.
