I know I have asked this question before, and the answer I've gotten were threw the spark plug hole, does anyone have a picture of the adaptor for vac./press testing a 288? or any saw with out a exterior pulse line? I've tried a few different things and would like to see what someone else is using and how it works. I've made some block off plates out to .25 plate with a tire patch epoxied to the inside to keep it in place. Thanks guys and Merry Christmas

I'm not familiar with that model saw but I've got a mighty vac and it's got an assortment of tapered fittings that I stick in the impulse hole. I'd have to do some digging to show.

I have made up many of these fittings but it seems this is the only pict I can find of the first one I made, it will give you the idea of how to make one. I do use a two stroke plug base and a regular hose barb on all the ones I have made since this very early model,

This is the ones Ive made I was having trouble getting the carb plate to seal but I think Ive got it figured out I tried and tried to get my plug adaptor to work and it always leaked BADLY here are some pictures
S8000917.JPG S8000922.JPG Ive used a patch for repairing tires epoxyed ont he back kinda working starting to fall off now It appears that a paper seal will work just fine also FYI I am tring to get this figured out Thanks for the help Adam

At the moment I just push the plastgic air brake hose up in to the celar hose I have on my mityvac it works ok still leaks some A lil bit of oil on the plastic seems to help a lot to get it to totally seal will hold 8-10 lbs of pressure for about 5 min or so I need to find a better way to be sure I don't have a small leak else where any ideas?

for the spark plug adapters, use a plug that has a sealing ring/crush gasket. Remove said ring and replace with an o-ring. You can turn it in by hand and it will seal.

Thanks for the part numbers on them They seem real reasonable I did not list the site cuz they aint sponsers But thanks for the P/N and the info

I use a brass plumbing fitting with threads close to the plug hole, but a touch smaller, and a barb on the other end. Then I teflon tape the end of the fitting that goes in the hole. Works like a charm.

I am just going to order on from the place I found, maybe Ill ask weedeaterman if he can get them?? worth a shot I think you can use the plug style on any saw, I think Im sure someone will come along and corfirm of shoot it down shortly

Through the plug hole will work on all saws as long as all the other holes/openings are blocked off , remember to block the impulse line if the saw has one. Vac can be pulled through any opening available on a sealed up two stroke. Enough air will leak around the piston rings for pulling vac, you will notice the needle on the gauge rise and fall though as the piston moves up and down the bore when the crank is rotated during a vac test while looking for leaks around the seals.
