guys i got a call on this stump after another company quoted the home owner $2500.00 bucks to grind this stump. the stump cut pic was cut with a 25 inch bar and it did not reach the center after walking around luckly it snapped off with my bobcat so we can call it 50 plus inches with root flare. what would this stump cost in your neck of the woods? The area needing to be ground was 8' x 10' the job is already done it took me an hour an 15 mins to grind and grade results

Did 1 last week just like it with grade work and haul off for $350. About 2 hours all total. What kind of grinder do you run ??

2500 was just for the stump im thinking the guy wanted nothing to do with the stump so he just threw a crazy price at it. I'd normally charge 500 to grind and 750 if there is haul away because there was a lot of rock hiding. I run a bandit 2450 with 44hp Kubota

That sounds like a fair price. Maybe even a little low on the haul away. I can't see making any money at $350 for 2 hours grinding and haul away and grade. I charge $200/hour for tight access jobs using a 20hp stump humper, and $400/hour for grinding with a tracked SC85. I don't do haul away.

Here in St. Louis I would hit them up for $350 - $400 just to grind the stump and exposed roots out. If they wanted the entire area ground into the hole and leveled off I would go up to $650 - $700. I don't have a bobcat but I do have 3 guys with shovels and more energy than a room full of 5 year olds on a coca cola binge. It's not a large area so it would be nowhere near the $2,500 price tag. Shoot...I could rent a dingo, do the whole job myself and still make good money at $700.

I must admit that I do the same thing when bidding some jobs. We recently had a guy with a HUGE dead/split storm damaged cottonwood with 3 conjoined trunks (nearly 8 foot across one direction and 6 foot the other) hanging over his garage, his power lines, his fence, his neighbor's fence, his neighbor's power lines and so much more...he said he had a bid of $10,000 and he felt that was way too high....I told him he was right...it was too much to pay. So I gave him a quote of $9,800 so he would PLEASE call someone else!!!!

But on an uproot stump??? REALLY???? Nah...couldn't be. Most of the dirt on this one would be ground right back into the hole - making this a relatively easy job!!!
