Probably A Stupid Question But......

So what exactly is a bow bar for ??? In all the years I have used chainsaws, I have never heard or seen one until I came to this site. I have heard of them used for brush to cutting logs for firewood. I just cant see how they would be very practical to use.

I believe they are used to clear brush and small saplings. I've never seen one used though. Look dangerous as hell to me.

I have used them in the past for limbing and they were quite popular for pulp cutting in New England. They take some extra care in dealing with load tension on felled trees when limbing and that is precisely where most of the accidents and deaths occur in using them. The very small ones are great for christmas tree farms for a number of reasons
