Hey, just a quick question. I have noticed on the last couple side-jobs I have done my Echo 3300 trim saw seems to start out running fairly good and then it seems to bog down, almost to the point of stalling, whenever I start to cut in to the wood with it. I have had problems with the spark plug boot staying on the spark plug and I have fixed that. I also have filed one side of the chain more then the other (still learning to sharpen-bought file guide) and recently taken down the raker's with a guide. Could any of these play in to the problems I'm having or could it be other things? I've had this saw for 4 years or more and with the knowledge I have about saws, taken care of it as best as I can. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Mike , if your cutters are not the same length then it will try to cut more on the long cutter side and cause binding . Try to adjust (file) your cutters to the same length and see if that solves your problem .
I probably should just put a complete new chain on, cause on one side the teeth are almost down to nothing and the other side there's still quite a bit of tooth left. I noticed yesterday when I used the saw I would rev the throttle up really good and there was no problem, but as soon as I made a cut it would really, really bog down, almost to the point where it almost stalled one time, plus it must have took like 5 minutes just for the saw to get through the wood. Thanks for the input ....

that tells me you didnt sharpen the chain right. the rakers need to be filed right, the cutters should ideally be equal length on each side, and the angles should be fairly consistant.

Yup, I f**ked it up but good. But it's perfect now for cutting complete circles! I've been trying to learn how to sharpen, but I am not good enough to do it free hand yet, so I went and bout a file guide. Now I just have to remember to keep equal strokes on each side of the chain. I also got a depth gauge tool that came with my Sthil 051 AV 32' bar and I believe the chain pitch is .404. Can I use that tool on any size chain or just that one? Thanks for the input..
