Processors and wastage

I been hunting for the past few days on Simpson land and I was struck by the amount of wastage. I mean the side of the road is just lined with blocks of wood 4', 6' and even longer. I looked a lot of them over and I couldn't see defect on either end. Sure there was swell but a lot not much and it looks like a foot or two would have cleared it up. Simpsons seemed to me to have a history of wasting wood. Anybody else every see this kind of thing or is it an anomaly?

I see it more where inexperienced, or bad fallers are working. Right now, the mills are being extra picky, and what used to go on a truck doesn't.
