How do you like that Husqvarna hook? I see that the handle is 90deg to the other one... in line with the hook. Having grown up with hay hooks, I'm not really sure how that works?

Will the WoodlandPro work on hardwood too? Watching BBR vids with him using the hook on that fir they have up there got me interested... but that's all softwood. I sure do wish all the wood around here would split like that, LOL! I think BBR would be a SplitterMan rather than an AxeMan if he lived here in the Midwest
I've used it so little as a firewood hook I couldn't really say. It works great as a general handle to hook brush, or reach into briars, or on an occasion to tie off to a rope and use as a grappling hook. When I worked hay fields, I was younger, stronger, and perhaps dumber, but we let the hay hooks hanging in the barn and worked the baling twine instead. So, I posted the picture of this Husqvarna hook with the 90° as a curiosity for discussion and consideration.

LOL, I know what you mean about younger stronger and dumber. We usually just used the hay hooks to pull bales up onto the wagon if we were stacking straight off the baler. Otherwise we did just like you and the twine was the handles. I used to be strong enough to throw a bale up to the top, 7 or 8 high on the wagon... I doubt I could do that anymore, LOL. I had to be careful though, put too much muscle into it and the twine would bust and the bale would explode, LOL. The hay hook lived in the toolbox on the old JD 24T.

Fortunately or not, I still use them every time I use my chainsaw. I’m not rigged up with anything else yet so this is a must in my truck.
I kinda thought everyone had pulp hooks though. I suppose if you run machines or fell big trees, you may not need one. :)
