Purge Bulb Problems

Okay so here's another weird purge bulb question/problem. Working on a customer's Mac 3200. Replaced carb gaskets and diaphragms and completely blew out the carb with cleaner. Purging functions operate completely normally when the carb is not placed on the intake. As soon as I seat the carb on the intake and pump the bulb, the fuel is purged out of the bulb and nothing else comes in. I'm thinking it might be the tiny hole in the intake section but I'm not certain.
