Putting some of Lakeside53 info to use

I don't have a 2 jaw puller, made a crank pusher for the type
of puller I have. I also used it to push out the clutch side
bearing. After the crank was out, put a socket under the puller
and pushed out the bearing.....I think with the right nut, bolt,
washers and maybe a socket I should be able to pull the new
bearing into the case.

The saw is a 066 that was dead when I bought it. Thought it
just need a top end..........As you can see I was WRONG
Crank is shot, as it is in another 066 I have
Same logger owned both saws, Other saw is not as bad...but the
crank is bad.

I was going to buy the Stihl push/puller until they said $285.00 :bang:

The owner of two 066 had traded them in, this one had a section
of the ring land missing at the exhaust port (no scoring, guess it spit the piece out the port) other 066 was running and also no scoring, but could here a slight knocking is why it is beaning tore down.

I put the case half's together, run a piece of all-thread through
the case with a 16mm socket to pull the flywheel side bearing
out (into the case) I was very happy with the way it worked

One question : the crank is discolored by overheat as you indicated, but there's no external visual damage. Is the crank therefor definately shot or can one still use it ?

This one is very shot..........it has a lot of up and down play in
the big end of the rod.

1/4 flat stock will work.go to a welding shop they have scrap stock.and drill some holes,done .k
