From researching the archives here and other internet sources, it looks like the 272's were manufactured in Sweden from 1991 - 2001

(I realize production was continued in Brazil. I'm only referring to Swedish production)

Some sites such as acresinternet.com only show the 272xp being produced from 1993 - 1997 which I'm fairly certain is incorrect.

Anyway, when I'm browsing the net for OEM parts, I notice that most of the parts supply websites only have a parts listing category for (1997 - 01)

The only site I've found so far that list an earlier model category is Husqypartsdepot.com

But the odd thing is:
one of the categories is labeled 272 chainsaw (1993 - 01)
and one category is labeled 272 special chainsaw (1997 - 01) Not sure why they label it 'special chainsaw'

Anyway, most of the parts listed in that 1997 -01 category seem to be the exact same part and part number as for the earlier models such as my 1995, and so far I haven't had any issues.

I'm just curious why there isn't a category for (1991 - 1996) or if the parts are indeed the same, simply a catch-all category (1991 - 01)

Does anyone know 'why' all the confusion and inconsistency with the 272xp parts listings?

Idk?? Somewhere along the the line they changed . Likely not in NA though. At least not that Im aware of. I ran a 266 with272 top on and then bought a brand new 272 in 96'. Ran it for a day and got as much $ back as he would give me and when to the next store and bought a 371
272 were out in Canada in '91.
1 believe the US assembly started in ' 93
I believe they did the last year of the 266.
So that could explain why '93 is coming up?
Possible more likely a change from 91-93 somewhere..some country.

Lots of assumptions..i real couldn't say.

Thanks for the replies.
Just trying to figure out why the ipls are so inconsistent compared to actual production
