I found a decent deal on a used milling setup. the guy used the mill for 100Board feet or less. here is what he has for sale (this is what he emailed me)

Its the top of the line model MK3 C3 i believe its called in 36" bar set up with oiler and helper handle end ($635), and also have the mini mill with track($95), 2 lengths of granbergs mill rails 5' ($140) 9' ($200) , 12volt electric chain sharpener w extra bits, if/when bought new everything was/is over $1200, i've used it to slab up less than 100 bdft, paint is barely wore off on one end of bar, id take $800 for all of it

my question is...... he ran this mill with a Stihl 880. I want to run this mill with my Stihl 660 and Stihl 046. I told him i didnt think it would work because the 880 has a large Stihl bar mount and my 660 and 046 are the smaller mount. He said it will work fine on the smaller saws and that when he ordered the mill they never asked what saw he was running on it.

So can i run this mill with my 660? I know i can run it power wise but will it bolt on to my saws?

On a side note do you guys think this is a decent deal? I am gonna go check it out tomorrow if it will work on my saw.

Thanks Josh

BobL had posted the size spring you need. I bet you could order them for a few bucks.

I can't believe he still has that mill. I talked to him in May of last year.

$800 that's a lot of money, but you'd be setup and ready to mill.

I agree that its a lot of cash. this is the way i am trying to look at it. i would have to spend 200$ on a plain jane 36'' alaskan. 100$ on a quality bar. 100$ on a mini Mill. i dont know how much milling chains are but lets just say 25$ a piece so theres 50-75$ more. now i would need to buy a ladder or something to setup for my first cut and a aluminum ladder will be at least 200$. so i will be into milling for at least 600-700$ with a plain jane setup.

The slabbing brackets would be nice and the aux oiler and helper handle would be nice too. i dunno now you got me second guessing the price.

I bought the 48inch complete mill and I spent around $700 for just the mill with the shipping. It's not a bad deal. You wont regret it if you use it. You'd be set to mill that's for sure. I'd like to see the rails in action and see if they are any easier to set up.

Well i sold my Snowmobile last weekend (yeah i know it snowed like crazy here today) I just happen to have the the 800 cash in hand. I think i will enjoy milling and have a few projects i want to tackle this summer.

If i do buy the system i will definately get with you sometime so you can checkout the rail system.

When you look at the mill, ask the guy if he has the springs that came with it. He probably didn't know what they were for.
