I just bought a vermeer sc252 stump grinder. it needed new teeth so i bought a new set ,but when i went to remove the old teeth i noticed that some of them were sitting higher than others . is there any specific way that the new teeth have to be installed or can they just be put on any old way? any help would be appreciated.

The factory 1/2" 252 cutter wheel is drilled so that the pockets are at different heights. There are two opposing sets of pockets that are drilled near the outer diameter of the wheel. The next opposing set is drilled further away from the outer diameter, and the third set is even further away. All of these pockets use the left & right angled teeth (if you are using the 1/2" square shank teeth) The two opposing sets of straght tooth pockets are drilled the same distance from the outer diameter.

I use the 1/2" square shank teeth in mine and I set the all teeth the same depth in the pocket . I also make sure the angled teeth are the same depth side to side. I use the cheapest 1/2" teeth I can get, as the ground around here is very rocky and tears up teeth quickly. So, i'm used to changing teeth often.
