Anyone had any negative things with the quick adjust on Stihl saws. I love mine and it saves having to carry the tool around. I have noticed that the adjuster will bind if the chain gets caught. Also I with that the black knob was a little bigger. What about yall?

I consider it a big plus on a climbing saw-which is why I love the 019T despite the derision heaped upon it by 020T lovers.:) -No problems with mine.

I saw an add in the local paper for a top handled stihl chainsaw for sale so I texted them (very low on minutes on phone)

"Is it an 020, how old is it"
"Hi Timber, its my 019." (I didnt recognise the number as being my mate chris's)
"you should have that under boating accesories, not tools"
"As small outboard?"
"no, small anchor"

If thats that dohicky black knob to adjust the chain tension that is on our 270cqs then I would rather use the wrench. The knob is hard to turn and when you get it turned it usually over tightens the chain.

I`ve found that the black knob turns a whole lot easier if you back off the lock mechanism atleast a few turns. Then you can turn the knob with a little finer control and not over tension the chain.

I don`t like the fact that you have to do some disassembly and then reassembly to flip the bar, but then the additional time to flip the bar is probably a wash with conventional chain tensioning time involving a scrench.

This feature is good for people who can`t seem to keep track of the scrench.

I dont know about the chain adjuster, never used, but I think the quick gas and oil covers on the 260 pro suck balls. It seems the oil one is especially a pain for some reason. Just give me a cap with a fingerhold ofr turning, thanks

No its not mine. When I work at my buddy's tree service I use his saws, which are all Stihl and Homelite. I like the 020 and 046 (even though the 020 sounds better than the 046, go figure) but the 260 is weak IMO. I would take my 55 over it any day, though I admit not only does he have those stupid caps on it it also is 100% EPA and stock. For $425 the stock 260 is not a good buy anymore. Its a shame because they used to be a great saw
