Well, I fought my way through the haze of AS chainsaw info overload, and bought the 361 20" bar-w- 3/8 RS chain. $539 out the door.

I got the last 361 they had in stock, and there was a bit if a cermony as they brought the saw out. I snapped a pic of the occassion, as it was pretty special.

Then as soon as I got the saw home, I ran the saw through a full tank. Now I know I won't need a splitter as I made short work of some pear tree trunk/limb sections ranging from 20" - 6". I snapped this pic of my Dynamic Duo atop of the pear quarters. I also have a nice saw peel pile in the background for shipping Christmas presents returns.

Man does this beast cut some wood with the RS chain. I found myself applying less than full throttle a couple of times, and when I pull the trigger tight, the power boost was a nice rush. I'm sure I will experience greater satisfaction as I put more hours on the saw.

I was a little worried about the weight of the 361, but I love the weight with the 20" bar. I won't be doing any pruning, but that's why I have the 192T. :)

My 361 has just a touch of chain creep at idle, and I will tweak that adjustment tomorrow.

When quartering my trunk sections, I was getting plenty of peels. I learned the hard way, what happens if I don't continue with some power after the cut, to clear out the peels. I got a saw dust peel jam that required removing the bar.

The quartering went so fast, I don't see myself swinging a maul at a wedge anytime soon.

Thanks to everyone who shared their thoughts on my 361 purchase questions, as well as to those who have contibuted to the comparison of the 361 to other saws. I feel like I got the right saw for me. I also know I will out spend the small difference in price for the 361, in chains and other accessories.

Well, my Christmas shopping is just about done. :hmm3grin2orange:

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to everyone

Looks like you've got a good combo there!

Though I'm usually a proponent of the three-saw plan (30-40cc, 50cc, 70cc+), you have a very capable two-saw program going there. That 361 is a hell of an all-around saw!

Keep up the good work on pictures, they look nice and are very clear, too, which makes the price of high-speed internet worth it.

I should give you a special shout out of thanks since you steered me toward AS from "the Garden".

Thanks. AS has been a wonderful learning curve in an area I thought I knew a little bit about. Now I know how much I still have to learn. :)

Good job! I have a 361 and love it! I have a 260 and a 441 also but if I could only keep one saw it would be the 361. It would make the best all around saw for almost all uses.

Good to see that you migrated. Not as much talk about snowblowers here, but at least the saw talk is at least semi-informed! :biggrinbounce2:

Enjoy your time here, there is no shortage of things to learn. Next thing you know you'll have a bunch of saws you don't need torn apart on your dining room table getting ready to take them out racing. Oh, and the table will be something that you made out of lumber you milled...in your driveway. Watch out, this is a crazy place. Hold on to your wallet!

7 - 3 = 4...Looks like you need to thin the herd. Which saws will we be seeing on the Trading Post?:hmm3grin2orange:

Ha! Got me there. Just don't be gettin' your hopes up and all, the herd is not going to be up for thinning any time soon.

The sig saws are just the ones that are useful. I've also got a few classics hanging around and most likely a couple more on the way before too long.

Nice combo, I need a little pruner to compliment my 361. But that's why I got the 16" on my 361, will get the 20" roller like yours when I get me a little pruner. That or get my father in law's little mini-mac running again..... still not sure if it is worth the time though!
Nice pics! I think the 361 is going to be around for a while.

I know the 200T would be the even better pruner, but the cost savings on the 192T helped me afford the 361.

I would also note, there is a substantial weight difference between the 192T and 200T, for those periods of careful one handed use.

I'm heading off to my dealer in a few minutes to have the carb adjusted for the slight chain creep on the 361. I'm gonna also have the tech walk me through routine carb adjustments so I can keep this baby purring nicely year yound.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I hope you all have a great holiday.

PS... I have a slightly large version of the "Raiders" and I'll post link if anyone is interested.

OK...

Chain creep fixed with a slight idle carb adjustment.

The service tech thought the bar was running just a little dry, and he tweaked the auto oiler adjustment as well.

I asked huim if I got a passing mark for my bar/chain install, and got the thumbs up.

I got to talking to the shop owner about how I love the saw and how I was embarrassed to ask for any extra goodies because he gave me such a nice discount. He asked me what extras I had in mind. I told him a case and a couple of RSC chains. He gave them to me for $45, which basically seems like his cost.

HO HO HO ... Merry Christmas. :hmm3grin2orange:
