I was running my RG100 yesterday and the engine would cut out,(shut down) under cutter wheel load. I could make about 1 or two light passes and it would die and I'd have to re start it. It would drive fine, I could run the cutter wheel side to side all day without the cutter wheel spinning. No idiot lights were on, all fluids were full. Any thoughts? something simple I can check? Thanks

dies under load

maybe fuel pressure is too low...yet good enough for slow speed/RPM. Try changing fuel filters, or check pressure.:confused2:

Possible but it doesn't sputter or act starved. It like sutting it down when you grind.

engine shutting down under load

even if oil level is ok, if pressure switch is bad or off somewhat, it may be shutting down electrically due to incorrect (warning signal): low oil pressure or maybe tilt/level switch. If all else fails, call the mfg of machine. The tech advisors are usually helpful if you're courteous & have already checked numerous things. All equip't has interlocks that shut it down to save from further damage. Many interlocks fail...quite often. Good Luck!!:confused:

Were there symptoms of any kind before this shut down? Check all ground connections, looking for a loose wire. If the engine has an external regulator-rectifier verify that it has a clean connection and is mounted tightly to the frame.

Laughing with you, not at you, be sure "to hold your tongue right". Post a follow up if u don't mind. Good luck!

Sorry I didn't get around to posting about this. It was the swing out operator station safety switch. It's on a metal tab the bent in slightly and the button on the switch was barely making contact. Add a few vibrations from grinding and it was enough to kill it. I bent the tab it's mounted on back and problem solved. I got lucky on this one.

Any more for me, after nine season stump grinding, the failure of little items like Moe's safety switch tab are what stops me in my tracks. Sometimes I approach the symptoms like "Columbo" teamed up with "Inspector Clouseau" with Ch. Inspector Dreyfus close on his heels. The latest problem on my BEELINE SP-13 was the shredded tranny belt (two months old Gates green belt) allowed or caused by an inferior size of bracket mount bolt retaining the belt tension pulley. Even though the access is a PITA, I'm upgrading the bracket mount to grade 8. Before that issue there was a gremlin in the warner clutch caused by an inferior crimping job on female wire clips and their loose fit onto the male tabs. Next time something breaks I think I'll call Ghostbusters to work on it. Be safe out there guy and gals! God bless you.
