are you tightening the airbox nut fully on the 660? it has to be tightened till it will not screw on any further! this said you do still get fines through but I have never seen it that bad and the only time I ever have was when it hadn"t bottomed out on the thread!

thats good chit man. but no one wants those old busted filters hehehe at least in OZ :laugh::laugh:

those hd2 are a big improvement which eases the cost of them.

Yep the filter nut was done up and all my saws have a foam tape on the inside if the filter cover to make sure the filter seals. In this pic is where i tryed a foam oiled inside the filter but it restricted air flow to much.

Those filters are a nice improvement for sure in dusty conditions.

I see in the stihl catalog they show k&n filter oil and spray cleaner. Is that for the new style filters? Auto style filter, same type of maintenance?

Thanks for the for the oz land update!

they are not the K&N are crap.

Just wondering, if k&n are "crap" then why does the manufacturer of your ms261 carry their oil and spray in the catalog?
does anyone know who does make the new hd filters for still? I use 4 of them and find them superior to the standard hd filters as well.

Uh oh, not the old loose nut dust theory :D I've seen plenty of dust that bad on larger Stihls and Huskys which has gone straight through the filter media. Looks like a thing of the past for the larger Stihls though - about bloody time as they were the worst for it. I hope Husky is watching as now Dolmar AND Stihl have their sh*t sorted.

Possibly Mann-Hummel in Germany will be making them for Stihl.

If you want to know about filters PM isuzurover on here, he's heavily involved in filtation research and has done consulting work for Mann-Hummel, Cummins Filtration (Fleetguard) and Donaldson, the big three in filtration.
Their combined R&D budgets exceed Krap&N's total sales.
