recoil repair can it be done

Has anyone re-bent a recoil tip that had broken
The MC super 55A just the tip with the loop broke i know you can't bend it cold but what about adding a little heat will it hold up
just wondering if anyone has done this

Yes it does but just enough heat to get the job done try heating it with a cigarette lighter.

if you use a propane torch with the air feed shut off so you have a soft orange/yelow flame..(same heat as the lighter about) then quench the spring immediately in water... you need to heat your pliers to a similar heat otherwise they'll suck the heat from the spring and return the temper before you get to bend (& snap)..
