I have a 357xp and 372xp and a tach. what is the recommended way to set the rpms with a tach. and what should they be set at? I am after performance and am willing to change the mixture for the weather but want to cut all day without burning down.

Maximum rpms are set with the bar and chain installed and properly tensioned.
357XP - 14000rpm @ wot out of the cut
372XP - 13500rpm @ wot out of the cut

When was your 372XP manufactured? Saws produced generally after October 2004 have a rev limited ignition module. These are normally blue in color. The desirable non- limiting ignition modules are black in color. These (rev limiting modules) are a bit more critical in setting the carb. You can do serious damage to any saw with a rev limited ignition if you are not careful. You probably will have to remove the tabs on the limiter caps to get the full range of motion needed to properly adjust the carb on both saws.:chainsaw:
