Hey, what's up forum...

Can I get some recommendations for a good saw to learn
about repairing chainsaws? You know, one that stands
out for simplicity and self-servicing.

Try a Husky should be easier to find one not running.

LMAO!

Check Craigs list and see if you can find some junk saws to buy and see what you can do. I know people who make a lot of money doing that.

HAHA :clap::clap:

what do you mean by learn to fix? You will need a few tools depending on what you want to do. Split cases? P&C or simpler like bad lines or carb?

get a runner and take it down however far you want, (clean it up along the way) then put it back together and see if it works. If you go in to a non runner not knowing what your doing you not going to get anywhere but pissed.

I just finished up my first rebuild and it was on an 028wb Stihl. If I could figure out how to post pics I would. Easy saw to work on and parts availability is good. Was a very popular saw in its day so local shops may have quite a few. I bought three at one of my local places and he had plenty more. The guys in the chainsaw forum are a great value when doing your first rebuild. Good luck.
