Removing reed valves that are pinned in on old Craftsman 16" chainsaw?

Thanks HarleyT, I'll chase down the spark arrestor Craftsman # 390217 when I get home Sun night. This is what it looks like, must be common to other saws. I'll let you know how I make out.

Could not wait until Sun night so I did some chasing. It seems that part and the replacement #390145 are both NLA. Guess I'll use it the way it is. When I get back, I might try used parts dealers.

Was thinking of that. Did you clamp it to the outside? I was thinking of trying to stuff some inside the muffler, if there was any room. Have to take it off to see what I have for space.
 
Well, don't seem to find the part with either manufacturer so my next attempt is when I get to the Brimfield flea market in July or yard sales. Maybe find an old, parts only Tecumseh that has the part still in usable condition. For now, it's running great and can be used until I find the arrestor.
