I've got a buddy that's always after me to sell him my 460.
So I'm thinking about selling it and buying a 361 with a 20 in bar and chain, I run a 20 in. bar on my 460 now, most of the time.
My logic is that most of what I use the 460 for I can do with a 361 and have less weight , be more nimble and less gas consumption.

I have the 660 with 20 in. , 28 in. and 36 in. bars and chains to pick up the slack on the heavy end.

What would you guys do ? Help me chose the best stable.

Short answer, no. I have run both (and 660s), and there is no way I would run a 361 instead of a 460. If you really want less wieght, less fuel consumption, go ahead. But you will have less of a saw and be cutting longer.

What he said  . No way. Look at my sig. I have the 036. Great little saw but a 440 or 460 is the way to go, especially in hardwood.

Sell me the 460 so that you all don't have that problem hanging between your friendship.

Sounds reasonable to me that you don't need the 3 together. If the 361 is not enough and you need to hump in a saw with more hp. I'd rather hump the 460 than the 660.

That's a tough choice. They're all so purty. I'd have to bow to clearance and KindlingKing's choice though. Sounds like you'd regret the choice and I think you know that :).

Why don't you just buy the 361 first and try it out before you get rid of the 460? If you don't like it, you can sell it for almost what you paid for it new.

why sell the 460

The 460 is one of the best saws ever built.for the hp it is the fastest and most reliable saw there is.until my saw was stolen the only two saws that were in my hands were the 200t and 460.if you are going to get rid of the 460 i will take it off your hands. DONT SELL THE 460!!!!!!!

buy a new 460 and put a 25" bar on it and keep the old one and run a 20" bar on it, You can never have to many 460's

I wouldn't get rid of anything I have for a set up thats working for me and my ways. If you're comfortable with what you've got, tell your pal to buy the 361 and then you can try it. If you like it more than the 460, trade. If you don't like it, he keeps his new 361 probably for about what he would have paid you for the used 460.

NEVER sell a saw

I believe in the theory that you can never have too many saws.

So...if you want a smaller mid-size saw, go buy it !

If somebody else wants your saw, doesn't that mean they think it is worth keeping ?

If you can't afford another saw, then by all means keep what you know does the job, and replace what doesn't. It sounds to me like you would be happy with what you have, except for a buddy that is talking you into parting with what he wants to get at a discount.

You might suggest that your friend go buy a new 460 if he wants one.

what I would do is sell the 260 Pro. We stopped bringing them out on jobs since they have no balls and require the 5/32 file and every other saw I own requires a 7/32.

well balanced lineup 361-440-460-660 from 20" to 36" bars

I agree with Clearance. On removals, when I run out of bar on the 200T I have the 460/20" sent up. Gets me back on the ground faster than any other saw I have tried.

I use an old 44 as my all around saw on the ground and wold never get rid of one. Even after it dies it's still good for parts. I recently bought a new 361 so I'd have something lighter and easier starting to take up in the tree. It's a good saw but it's no 44 or 460. My 66 has a 36"bar on all the time for the big cuts. There's no good reason to ever sell a 44 or 460.

got almost the identical setup:

Stihl MS 200T
Stihl 026
Stihl 046
Stihl 064

by the way I sold off my MS 460 and kept the 046. also sold off my 034 super (equal to 361) after getting an 046.

found I had no use for a 60cc class saw, when 046 was around.
usually use 026/046 combo. but lately it's been 200T/064.

no... don't sell off 460 or 260 pro... there's plenty of times you really a small limbing rear handle saw. and 460 is really the work horse of the entire group.

064 barely weights more than 046 with much more grunt. 064 has one of the highest power to weight ratio for big saws.

Don't sell the 460 Clearance the line up you have sounds very capable to me.I run the almost exact line:ms200,026Artic,044,064,066 Artic red lite,090.
The 026 is still light enough to carry on your saddle 50 feet up and give you that little extra umph over the 200. I've never had a 460 because with a .325 chain on my 044 she cuts plenty fast enough and my older[1987] 064, like 046 says is not much heavier then the 046. The 064 and 066 I use to block up heavy trunks and the 090 with a 42" bar rips oversized blocks[bark on ground] in half for easier handling.
I started my woodcutting career back in 1974 as a faller 8hrs a day 5 days a week.Have used Jonsereds, Huskies,Dolmars,Stihls.Best saw was the old 064 The only other saw I used with as close to its power/weight ratio was the 910 Jonsered but that old saw had terribly weak rear handle mounts, they were built a little too light.I knew a pulpcutter who used a 026 and on a good day he could cut /hand pile 10 cords a day.
