I noticed topping pitch pines ruins a rope in one shot if you dont use a block.

Wesspur has a 3/4 block they are selling from CMI with Wesspur name on it for $89 looks like a pretty decent deal.

New 3/4” capacity arborist block from CMI. This block can handle 3/4” ropes, and while it has a slightly lower strength than some of the other 3/4” blocks, it has a great price tag and rugged steel design that will make sure this block sees plenty of use. Steel body, swinging side plates, and upper sheave does not come free of the body, ensuring you won't spend time looking for it at the bottom of the tree. Etched with WesSpur logo.
WLL 2,800 lb. Breaking Strength 28,000 lb.

I use 3/4 stable(200ft), 3/4 CMI Stainless Block (WLL, 5000), whoopie(big one), portawrap. I also use the tuflex eye to eye sling, this thing is great for falsies, and chokin out some bigger stuff. I have a few of these, great investment. I have the loopies as well, great tool, just like the tuflex ones better(quicker and stronger) I do alot of heavy rigging. Remember, each time you dump something big onto a line, it weakens, even if you stay under WLL, your rope will eventually fail, Using all the toys will make everything last a lot longer, and learning how to "let em run" threw the wrap is also important, try and stay away from the sudden stop (dynamic loading) and you will get to play with you toys a lot longer. I polish my Stainless Blocks every night! day so prettay. You probably already know this, but I thought I would throw this in, just in case!

I use a 3/8's amsteel loopie sling and isc spring lock 3/4 block up in the tree for false crotches...and on the ground use a whoopie sling for the porty.....
If you go to sherrills website you can see they have pruduct movies of how to use there stuff.....
