Hey guys. I got the parts in for the 346 and noticed that the ring is beveled on the ends. I would assume that the bevel goes toward the bottom of the piston but I thought I'd ask before I put the saw back together.

I Think that the profile shown in that pic is where the pin sits, or rather where the ring fits around the locating pin.


The pin is there to keep the ring gap from rotating into one of the ports and hanging up.
 
ring will go the other way, check the little locating pin in the piston, the gap for the extended ends of the ring will be underneath the pin. if you install the ring upside down it will not compress enough to fit in the cylinder. the pin will hold that part of the ring out and hang up.
