I have a realitively new Dynasorb rope. I noticed this on one end today. The last 16" or so were hollow ( like the internal strands had been pushed to the other end, but nothing is coming out other end. Could it just be that they were compressed and sheathing stretched?? It's only been used on 2-3 jobs, and only one of those was using any real heavy chunks. Hope you can see where the reduction in diameter occurs.

It's just the core of the rope that has shrunk. The core and the shaft of those kind of ropes are independent of each other. Just cut of the hollow bit and melt the end, and the rope is good as new.

If you tie the "non milking" end off to an anchor point you can sometimes milk the sheath down by hand by working your way down from the anchor with friction from gloved hands or a figure 8. Until it's done milking I'd make sure one end is always the working end and the milking end is the standing end.
