Can't go wrong with Blue Streak. Trying out a knockoff of Safetyblue by a company in CA called Pelican, its not to bad handles well not to bouncy. Its 60.00 cheaper per roll since I replace the climbers lifelines each year that price difference is workable.

how tall are them palm trees in afganstan?
I use safety blue from New england
This the best rope around dog.:blob2:

Jumper,
These folks are offering me 60,000 for a year in Kuwait.

If you like 12 strand, True Blue is good too. But i would choose the Blue Streak too; that has been touted as easier to footlock when designed (if that matters to you). The 3 varieties of Blue Streak (for line coding and id) are also the strongest rated of the made for tree climbing lines i believe at 8100#, which might offer more usability/confidance in downgraded life after climbing; i've wondered what the all white strength would be.

i've been liking the 'weaker' Yellow Jacket very much; and would never discount the 3rd Blue; the Safety Blue family of lines.

Jumper, don't get the TrueBlue. Go for the Blue Streak. A 120' piece of BS is about 1.5lbs lighter that the TB. And..round ropes are better than square ones!

True Blue is the best colored rope on the market. Otherwise I think its too heavy, thick and nubby. Good rope but I don't like it.

BS has a good rep. I prefer NE and Yale family 16 strands.

Have you considered the Fly? Much lighter and less volume too.

I use BS, and I love it. I like the extra strength. It works well for me in SRT and DdRT. I would say get a 200' hank of BS. I need to order a roll of it soon.

I'm not happy with Fly's wear patterns. i think because the yarns are smaller in the shaeth they are wearing out faster. Less fuzzing maybe???

I only use the fly if I need the 150 ft hank.

Safety blue and blue streak are the two best ropes on the market, Yale XTC is close to them.

Phyics would say that smaller yarns would equate to more surface area exposed (compared to cross section of thread). That would mean, to me, that smaller yarns would wear out faster, because there is more of the yarn exposed to wear.

Kinda like mitosis of a cell, in biology.

Yup and the fuzz gives protection against wear too, kind of a bearing surface that protects the rest of the yarn.

I like fly for it's designed charictueristics, but if your on a shorter rope, they dont really come into play.

I was a fan of the blue streak until I replaced a wearing one with the ArborMaster BRW. Same rope, different color, way more style:cool: It's all about lookin' good in the tree, right?

Of all the ropes I've used the arbormaster series (blue streak, gold streak, BRW) are my favorites, especially good if you're a footlocker. The yellowjacket has gotten a lot of good reviews here though, so I may have to give it a try next.

Carl, what do you mean when you say you "love the extra strength." Do you notice it when you climb?

I would happily climb on a line rated at 5400lbs if it "climbed" well.

Peice of mind. If I manage to cut half the strands I wouldnt fall, and still have a stout rope, if I had to ease down to the ground on it (Ignore tits, and calling up another rope). Not that that is just it, it just suits me.

Have not seen a palm tree here, I think it is too cold in winter ( minus 9C was the coldest I saw this winter, and it does snow-we are as far south as Fayetteville, NC, but at 6500 feet) and the altitude too high. Mainly pines, and a few others I can not ID as we are now all in Armoured vehicles after the Taliban bombed one of our guys last month.

You know brother after 911 I emailed the CIA several letters.

In one I cussed them quiet badly and told them it was because of them that 911 happened. Now I think maybe US policy caused it. That it was their fault. It was because none of their lame dick operators wanted "no beeer no sex" slots that None wanted to get diareeha for a year which is most billets. Furthermore I told them I'd voluneteer.

There are two kinds of patriots bro and one of them makes a difference
