Does anybody know anything about Sachs-Dolmar coloring, pre-Makita? My understanding was that the older ones were silver with a black handle, and the newer ones orange, but the one I inherited from my Dad is black and white, with a white handle. Any idea when they made them this way?

Orange has always been Dolmars Color, The 112 was introduced in 1979 and discontinued in US distribution in 1987. There were two special editions made one being Black and Silver and one being Black and White. the early orange editions had a 1 piece hood while the latter versions and the special editions had a 2 piece hood from the 114

Dolmar is the OLDEST Gasoline saw company in the WORLD they introduced the model A Dolmar in 1927 and they still today are made in Germany like they have always been.

Thanks!

V. interesting. I guess the major difference is that they were made in West Germany from '45-'89. :)

So what's going on with this saw! It was listed here in the for sale ads. Then I saw it on ebay. Now the ebay ad is off!!! WTF. Someone here fess up how much they spent to end that auction early!

I might know the guilty party in question....

I can explain all

I figured the saw had some interest, but since it wasn't running, I figured it would sell reasonably well for $100, which is what I advertised it for here and on Craig's List. I put it up on eBay with a $100 reserve, in case nobody wanted to pay the flat price for it.

It sold in about 12 hours from the ad here to Mike (for the advertised price). I ended the eBay auction, which was up to $31, but there were about a dozen people watching the auction. I probably underpriced it, but it's no big deal to me; I just wanted it out of my crawlspace, and I'm glad somebody got it who wanted it.

Fortunately, I didn't get a reserve bid on eBay before I closed the deal; hate to see a chainsaw fight.

Well I got the saw, looked really nice. It smelled of old gas so I put a carb kit in the Bing and a new fuel filter. She fired up and seems to run great, has 155psi. compression. I'm gonna take it along and put it in some wood in the morning. I'll start the heavy cleaning on it when I get back, she will sit on a shelf most of the time I think.
