Is there a way by looking at the cylinder to tell which I have?

Looking at the pictures, I see many potential problems. You are using the Nova II ignition, which is what replaces that black ignition module in the middle. Plus, the Nova doesn't like the heat under the flywheel and quickly goes bad.

Get a new Nova, hook it in line with the kill switch next to the carb, and put a ground the Nova. Then cut the wire to the black ignition module and tape it off.

Very simple repair and should keep the same timing.
P.S. You will need a flywheel with two magnets 180 degrees apart.

Yes that number should. I looked at my two 120's and both si and super have a plastic tank only regular 120 has a metal one. The si is definitely injected which explains the difference in porting. Didnt look at cylinder numbers yet

If my engine is using the 236c, would that indicate that it is a SI rather than a super?

Hallo I have the same problems with timing and a nova2 but how does the repair look like what you are telling her? Do you have a foto?
Because I cut everything away and install a nova 2 and a new coil. Now my timing is lost!
I get it back when I turn the flywheel without the key, but that’s nor really possible because it slips.
Now i think to make the holes bigger from the backing plate so I have more space to find it.
Do you have other ideas? Please let me know. Thanks

You are going to have to check the timing. Put a screwdriver or whatever you have down the spark plug hole and rotate the engine until you are at top dead center. Use a Sharpie to mark the flywheel and engine case at TDC.

You are going to need a timing light and 12v battery to check the timing. You need to be at 26 degrees before TDC, which is about an inch or so clockwise from TDC. Then you are going to have to take the flywheel off and on without the key stock until you get it at 26 degrees BTDC.

I hope you can do this, I don't have pictures.

Pay attention to the impulse hole. It must line up...if not you can use a die grinder to channel the hole to where it will. And make sure the gasket has a hole there.

Recently got a Dolly 6421 it has rather large 5 point dogs. Are there smaller dogs available?

There are smaller spike bars available in Europe. Both inner and outer. If you have a contact there, you should be able to get a hold of them fairly easily. I have a set on one of my saws, and they work very well.

Diameter is 49mm, head of piston is thicker and also the skirt is .1 inches wider. The 120 Super piston is identical to the original.
