5100 has more agressive porting, and believe a different cylinder, I have had mine for over 4 years and it rocks.

If that new 261 is the cats arse, the 5100 can't be far behind.

Too soon yet, we will see how it works out in the long run.

Can't really see a 50cc that could run much better than the 5100.

Sachs Dolmars ROCK!

Here's my 153 hooked up with my home made milling contraption;

I can put my projects on hold if you want to send me that 143.
The 133 will now be put up on the shelf queen area so you won`t have to look at picts of it again.

ha ha. LOL. Umm, I think the 143 is staying here, also have a 119. I do like the pics of that 133, I really want a vid though, LOL.

i hear everybody talkin about the older dolmars but what about the new ones? i just recently purchased a ps 510 and love it.been cutting 36 to 40 inch red oaks and the saw does very well.just wondering. i hear a lot of people talk about the the 5100s but since they changed the rev limitto 13500 just like the 510 i dont see much of a difference between the two.thus the reason i bought the 510,100 dollars cheaper.

There is a difference a 510 is 3.3hp and 12.1pounds a 5100 is 3.9hp and 11.2 pounds so its .9lbs lighter with .6hp more and the 510 is 13500 rpm the 5100 is 14500 rpm both are 50.4cc saws. I dont know about the 5105 but ive heard there tuned down a bit.
My father 1st bought a 510 till I showed him the stats on both saws.. he traded it in on a 5100 :D

Is it stable enough? I mean how is vibration and shakes? How do you connect ladder frame to log?

This shows how I first attached the ladder, since then I have drilled every other rung and use 5/16 lags.

Remember, you only need the ladder on the first (crown) cut.

I think the 133 has made its last run, after I get it cleaned up again it will most likely just sit on a shelf, its too big for most things I do and I have bigger modded saws to work with.
The bigger SD `s are just sort of collector saws for me even though they are fully capable of doing a good days work at any time. The 116 and 120 are all the saw I need for work activities, even these are not my main work saws any more. I will find another big SD to refurbish, likely in the new year as I have dozens sitting here waiting their turn at the bench.

Nice setup Sachsmo, turns those big hardwoods into some nice plank right where they fall.Gives those big SD`s a good workout cutting that endgrain.

Does anybody know if the 122 shares any similar parts with the 144? They appear alike in some ways, and in some they are totally different? Im specifically talking about the rear handle and handlebar.

Ya, same here jerry, all my older saws just sit around, I never use them, the newer smaller saws just do the work so much better!

I just naturally go for the creamsicles as they are for the most part all muffler modded ,ported and squish set from the 200T to the 090`s,.. everything in between has been modded. I look over the days work ahead and choose the saws accordingly. However today I cut with my 120 Super just to give it a run, it sat for more than a year but was eager to get out and buck up one cord of dry maple hardwood, two tanks of fuel though, some of my other saws will do that much work on one tank.

What are some saws you think are most fuel efficient? I have thought about what best "survival saw" might be. One criteria is that it be fuel efficient. Others are reliable, tough, simple and parts availablity and price. Size? Also what saws can be purchased for. I think I will post about this later.

Can't comment on that, this IS THE Sachs Dolmar thread.

Sorrey :( Does that mean no Sachs Dolmar qualifies? I was hoping someone tell me which SD they thought would be good.

Can't go wrong on some of the new Dolmars/Makitas as far as parts availability;

guess you can't beat a Stihl. They have the best parts network no doubt.

There are many good saws, but if I could have just one (fuel limited of course) it 's gotta be a 50cc saw.

Stihl has the best parts network ?????????????
try to find an IPL online.................
and the prices they charge ??
and the dealers that think thier poop dont stink..
and the wait for when THEY decide to order it !
easier to get parts for a 30 yr old homelite ..

I repped him too. I thought the 260 I owned for a week was going to need a carb kit so went in to the dealer to pick one up. They weren't even sure which one I needed but they did know it would be over $18. When, I commented on the price, the counter guy seemed shocked that I wasn't happy to pay for that Stihl quality. He was less pleased when I told him the kit for my 395 was only $7. Sorry for the off topic rant.

Ooopss,,kinda got of topic didnt we ??
i guess even if some of the old SD stuff is a bit hard to find the parts are out there and reasonably priced too..
