Im off this week and want to revisit my 10-10S. I believe this is aluminum with a cast iron sleeve. Here is a picture of what I'm looking at. Notice the dot that seems to me to be a worn spot through the sleeve. Do I have any options?

10-10S would be chrome bore regardless of what Mike's site says. In fact all of the 57cc models (PM55, 555, 570, and 10-10S) were chrome bore. Some early models had a bridged exhaust and the piston did not have locating pins for the rings, later ones had a more open exhaust port and used locating pins in the piston for the rings. It it interesting that yours has the bridged exhaust as all of the IPL's that I have seen for the 10-10S call for 92517 rings that are for the piston with locating pins.

The CP55 (actually the 54cc 10-10 in an anti-vibe configuration) may have been a sleeve in an aluminum cylinder, I know the CP70 models were all sleeved.

If you try to stick a magnet to the bore I am sure you will discover it is chrome plated and the magnet will not stick.

Thanks Mark. Nice to finally have a for sure answer. Now either rechrome or try and replace. One of my favorite saws to run but it's going back on the shelf. I have more. Spending all my money on gas and food lately.

I seen that the other day. It would be nice if changing out the sleeve was an option. If it can be done Joe will figure it out. I've been watching ebay for about a year and have not seen one other than over seas for a small fortune. There was a guy brought up in the mac thread that had NOS short blocks Im just not in position to pony up the cash. I have plenty others to use. Im hoping something pops up I can horse trade for. Or maybe gas, electricity and food can go back to normal prices.
