I don't know how the gas got in there. I'm the only one who uses that saw, and I'm pretty sure I brought the right gas on that job, but if that's what happened, then I obviously must have brought the wrong stuff. Hmm - I better check my pole pruner, now that I think about it. Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to refresh all my mix and make sure it's all clearly marked. That might be part of the problem. I'm going by memory, and that's always dangerous with me.

Memory? Me too. I try to remember where I wrote down the notes of things I didn't want to forget. LOL

I have one round can and its dedicated to 2 stroke oil. it also has a totally different spout, color and feel. all the other cans are rectangular. that way there is no chance I can grab the wrong can and miss any markings on it. that gives me time to focus brain cells on which tank I'm filling... gas or bar oil. :dizzy::crazy2:

Makes no sense! Did he rip it down if it was straight gased clean the cyl up and replace the piston and rings? Was it pressure tested? Did you find evidence of where this straight gas came from? Am I to understand it ran crappy now it dont cause he put premix in it? If it gives you more trouble you can send it to me and I will go over it 100 percent.

I doubt they checked it thoroughly. He said it would be 10 days before they could get to it and they had it done in 3 days, so I'm guessing they rushed through it.
I don't know of any good reliable saw shops around here. The two in town are the kind of small-engine guys who just get the thing barely running and call it good.
If I have any more trouble with it, I'd be glad to send it to you or someone else here on AS who knows what they're doing.

Well if you do I can fix it easily and at a very reasonably low cost. It dont sound right to me that whole story. Straight gas would score it up. Can you do a compression test?

If straight gas is the only issue, can we expect it to run mostly normal until the scoring starts?

Simple thing i did was peel the sticker off the oil bottle so i know what kind of mix was in the can ,went to this brand because it is blue ,the gold oils are hard to tell it is mix or not .hedge trimmer no spill gas can 024.jpg hedge trimmer no spill gas can 026.jpg

Back in the day, around '80, I once put straight-gas in a Homie 150. Bucking some oak, I noticed it start to lose power and not want to idle. Didn't crank too well- hmmmm. Pulled the plug and dribbled in a cc or two of whatever oil was handy, and it cranked normally. Some mix oil in tank and fed it some more mix, and it ran normally, and seemed to be healthy, but I sold it cheap. Was even more ignorant back then.

Since that, mix goes in one of two jugs, 1.5 gal or 5 gal, period. Any other jug is straight-up. WoodlandPro syn mix is a pretty blue.
