Just dont let anyone mix it but you. Always use the same can for mix.
I agree, and 2 cycle oil has color to it for a reason, I always watch as it goes in the funnel to assure that is colored. I also try to look in the tank before screwing the cap back on to make sure I cant see the filter.

Well if you do I can fix it easily and at a very reasonably low cost. It dont sound right to me that whole story. Straight gas would score it up. Can you do a compression test?
My BIL's dad had a brand new J-red 2171 that he was using one fine day when we were out cutting on a line fence that a farmer bulldozed. He had lent his BIL his "loner" saw and gave him is bar oil/gas can to use as well. He had filled the can with fresh mix prior to his BIL taking it. His BIL used all the mix and wanted to be a good guy so he filled the gas tank back up (minus the oilof course) yep he is that guy. Anyway he filled the new J-red up and away he goes. Saw dies in the cut, he starts it back up and it sounds strange. He opens the fuel cap and turns white as a Ghost. I opened the gas can and you could see the bottom plain as day. We dumped a can of oil in that tank and finished cutting for the day. His saw ran like a champ. The saw ran fine for about two more years and finaly started loosing power. The guy cuts a lot of wood in a year too. Anyways, that saw ended up getting a new top end. All becasue of the incident butit ran ok for a few years before she went. Kinda felt bad as think if we woulda yanked the jug right away probably could have saved his cylinder.

I have had 2 stroke oil without color before! Changed the brand pretty quick.
