I was just wondering how many of you guys use half skip & full skip square filed chisel chains.I use both half skip on my 441 and full skip 0n my 880, they do dull faster than round tooth chain but they cut smoother, faster, and there not as many cutters to sharpen.

i use round tooth skip.

i like it a lot.i don't have time to mess with square chain.the wood is too dirty and full of foreign objects.

It really dosen't take that much time to square file a chain,I use both square & round filed skip chain. The files are more expensive but the cut is faster and smoother.

i'm sure it's nicer but is it worth it for me.

i don't think so.we have to many pieces of old metal and rocks in our trees.you want smooth chain? get the stihl rsc chain.it's all i run and i love it.super smooth when you run it on a husky 372xp.

I'm going to try a few loops of half-skip round tooth for my 25" bar. If I'm in a good cut with a regular square tooth chain, it seems to clog with chips; and if I'm cutting up a stump, it dulls fast. I'm hoping this new chain will be the answer.

As for smaller bars, I'm happy with the square tooth, non-skip.

BTW: Baileys had a special on them for $14 ea.
