Amoungst My Saws........Fool That Has Too Many!!!
Now that all you guys are having these get togethers you have piqued my interest on chainsaw cutting times. Is there one species of wood that is better than another? I see that, for the most part, the use of a log cut in a mill is the log of choice. Also what is the best way to time your saws? One cut.....two??? Is a stop watch the best way, or should you video tape it then time it?

Rich ,first on square wood or round wood
most people will like round over square plus there is less chance of kicking your chain off with round ,reason is if you hit the flat side of square wood prefectly flat with your race saw your chain has a good chanceof hooking to a side on trying to enter the wood and if it does bye bye chain
the wood out here most times will be popular or whitepine but we like popular better because the knot on white pine are harder and break racing tools where popular knots just slow you down and most times donot hurt anything
on timimg yes video is the best then frame by frame the cut to be right about the time but a stop watch in the right hands is all so good
on how many cuts , well it would not be fair to have cold start 3 cuts because most guys here have never done it before but later on i am sure someguys will want to try it so for safety reason to we are just doing 1 cut and with just one cut you can see the difference between someone that can run a saw and someone that is not as good or has never been shown on how to cut fast
