Husqvarna 371XP or Husky 3120XP or STIHL 088 which one? i am looking for the one that is most reliable when it gets old and i am looking for one that holds up to abuse........i am also looking for one that is easy to start......which one would u recommend? price and noise is not a considering factor........if you had to buy a saw which one would it be?
i am not complaining about a saw not weighting alot but i was wondering why does the biggest stihl the 088 weigh so much less than the competitions largest saw? is it because it isnt built as heavy and they dont stand up or is it just becuase they have found a way to cheapen them up wheere they dont need metal or is it just a cheap junk saw? once again if you guys were choosing from those saws which one would you buy not condisering price and noise?
thanks for the help

if you want to rip, the 090 sthil is the saw, as i understand it. i have 066 stihl & 394 husky both good big saws but still want 090. later nfp

you have asked the same question 6 times on 4 different threads. If you want to think that stihl is a piece of cheap crap, you are welcome to your opinion. You asked us OUR opinion and we told you.
Buy a Craftsman, it will suit you better.

Stihl has for a very long time figured out how to make MAGNESIUM alloy castings that are light, strong and reliable... and the tough glass reinforced PA66 plastics (form of nylon). Doesn't need to be heavy to be good. I can't answer about the Husky, but the 088 is one heck of a saw. I'm rebuilding one (ruined by the previous owners "inexperience"...) and the internals are nice. Even has a steel ring cast into the clutch side casing to support the bearings, and a heat dissipation ring cast in the top of the piston, like many diesel pistons have. Apart from the obvious scale up in size, the saw is exactly the same proven basic design as all their pro saws. If you can work on and 026, you can work on an 088.... They could have saved a pound by NOT having a cast steel muffer, and used a pressed muffler like the 066, but they didn't.

A thread that's over 4 years old???

I guess that Brian/RJS missed this one, or maybe he really liked his response.
