ultra's right that damage is from bad/stale gas,low octane gas.
that saw rattled itself apart from pre-ignition.
i gas stations pull the old switch a roo with their octane ratings, you pay for 93 octane and get 87,switch gas stations.

Years ago I had a BMW R100RS motorcycle. It was the perfect "honesty checker" for gas. There were two gas stations in town I could buy gas from and not get detonation. Bad gas, I'd know it a couple of blocks away. Octane a couple of points off at the pump. Know it quick. Handy. Knew the best stations in town.

Is that a 200?

I had an 020 that did the same thing and it had sucked in some chain oil from a bad gasket and it coked the bottom of the piston like that but I got it before the bearing came apart The piston had the crowned marks of detonation but not as bad and a stuck ring

200T.....................................

.

I bet if you pressurize the oil tank you will see some seepage into the case.....the rod almost looks like it heated and blued in the pic but I bet that is chain oil residue because around the big end I see no sign of bluing from lube failure.
The 020 I fixed had a similar look in the middle and it scrubbed off with scotch brite. The guy I did it for thought the rod was bad till I showed him....that saw is still out and running and that was 5 years ago now

Check to see if any of the case bolts are loose too

It's junk.. keep it for spare parts. Unless you have a P&C around, and rod/crank...

Whatever the cause, it was happening for a long tme... and yes, the wrist bearing was only the end result, not the cause.

Just for a laugh if the parties are willing

I bet that the crank will last if we can figure out a trade deal and shipping and I can find a used P&C I will put it out with a local for 50 hours and tear it back down to show the results.

takers?

What do you need to get out of the whole saw as is ultra? or what in trade?

Its not mine...It belongs to a local tree service.. He said tonite on the phone he was going to keep it for parts..

I should see more pics of the crank before I make a final judgement but that area that looks like heat blueing doesn't make sense

Is the 200T now suggested to run premium fuel?
Stihls always were spec'd to burn the most available fuel for the market.

I wondered about that

Stihl did their own hot rod work

I wonder if it did not slip time....too much advance and or 87 and severe overheat

That is a lot of detonation
