KD, Dennis, and the other saw modifiers: it seems everytime I hear about your activity you are always busier than heck with all the saws you are working on and they are stacking up. Of the guys on this site, it seems maybe 20-30 are sending saws out to be worked on, not counting the 11 saws a single person sends! So who keeps you guys so busy? professionals who send them in and are too busy to play on the internet, weekend timber sports fanatics, logging companies, joe woodlot ? Just curious. I have even seen a couple second hand saws that have been worked on by some of you for sale now. How many saws have you worked over and are out being used still? Just a curiosity. JB

Johnny 5,
These questions are all good ones. I for one have never understood how Ken and Dennis get any work done at all with people like me calling them up and bending their ear all the time. Dennis has a store to run up there, too. Ken must never sleep because we've talked for hours until 4:00 AM EDT or so on many occasions; and that's just me! Between only Dennis, Gypo and myself, we could easily keep Ken busy for a daily average of at least 3 hours. I'm not kidding here.

Lol...Doug you are so correct...I spend at least three hours a day on the phone...this very morning...I had Doug and Gypo on hold while talking to another customer... I will give you an example of what is on my bench right now...

Russ' 260 Pro just finished building....the Solo 633 of mine which I havent had alot of time with yet...but just about done...A 357 with full mods for Gypo...a 2186 with full mods....a 2171 for local with full mods...a 394 full mod for locals...a stock appearing race saw...an 046 for full mods for Robert....as well as 2 more 372's for locals that want them some time next week with full mods..

Now lets take into account the fact that I have my everyday business...this morning an 066 with a broken brake handle...288 that is misfiring...hedgetrimmer with no spark...etc..

I also am coming up on month end...accounting..my favorite part...not...lol...

But, I do think that Arboristsite customers, are probably 50-60% of my modification customers...there are alot of lurkers on this site...who email privately...

I finally got back the first saw I ever modified a couple weeks ago....light mods...it finally just got tired...this guy used it falling every day.....he has since bought 3 more from me...this is the only local saw that has died from old age, that I personally have built...I have had some straight gas ones come back...lol..but that happens....The rest are still running as far as I know...I have never had a customer switch back to stock...

anyway,...guess I should get back to work...lol

Hi Rich, where is Dan anyway? He's missing out on all the fun.
We're having another 346 Fest here soon, so get your clubs ready.

Trendy/ say What?

So who was that guy that said getting your saws modded was the Trendy thing to do? We were just trying to improve the economy right? The wife is on a rant about cleaning up my old papers and asked if I was going to keep the reciept for a saw I had modded 4/17/78, a top handle trim saw. Cost near as much as the saw to have it done. The saw's out in the shop collecting dust, it quit some years back. Last year I had the modded Poulan rebuilt by a guy in WV, got the Husky top handle and had it done by another guy and bought the Dolmar 7900 PP'ed from Dan last fall. If we can't keep them on the phone all day at least they keep us looking, What that guy say? Trendy. I just can't imagine dressed in long johns, bibs, sweatshirt, jacket, chaps, hardhat, and the rest of the PPE that the saws are going to make me Trendy. Sexy maybe, I know with a Dolmar in one hand and a Husky in the other I could (with a Stihl on the truck) look sexy even if I do dress funny, cause my saws are modded.
Dan's out there somewhere, last I spoke to him on the phone he was just coming in to get a coffee to take a break in between saws he was working on. I don't think I'd go back to a stock saw after using modded saws all these years.

You know i would like to meet Dan ,i think him and i would get along just like 2 peas in a bod , plus with his 3 and my 3 warped brain waves , one of us would have to have something to say

Geofore- I'm the "trendy" culprit, my big thing is these saw builders can hop up my saws, but they can't hop up my legs and arms, as a result I'm not posting anymore numbers as a faller, unless I stop escaping the stump. I was thinking of ways today to make my saw lighter, I already took the chain brake components off, saving me a pound, maybe if I remove the flywheel and ignition I can save another pound.

wait a min ehp .. im first we[dan n i] suppose to drink one beer togather an we gonna doit.. he wont get as much good from it as talkin to u , but ill get enuff for both..can i and in a corner and listen if u get togather. be quiet as a mouse

Hi Guys
I am still here.
I don't have a lot of time to be on here lately. It seems that all I get done is snow removal, sleep and have a little time to spend on saws. I have to go out and play in that white stuff again tonight , just received 8" today, supposed to get another foot tomorrow. I am ready for spring.

I hate to call out of the country. I have an unlimited long distance phone plan. I pay 29.00 a month no matter how many calls that I make. It works out fine in the US but they hit me hard when I call out of the states.
My wife still hasn't forgotten my 48.00 phone call to Dennis G. LOL
I drank two beers last year with John and they were both at the same time. LOL I am ready to drink a few more but I think we will wait until warm weather gets here. How do you guys like this Global warming?

Hi Dan, we too got 10 inches of snow here today, but there is a warming trend though. Hope all is well and your keeping the outdoor furnace stoked up.

All is well here. I have to keep the outside furnace full, its the only heating system that I have. I took the oil furnace out of the house so that my wife could have more closet space. Do you think that she needs it? LOL
It did warm up here today. It hit 15 degrees. I know its not as cold as you are getting though.

Dan is busy working on my new 6401-7900 so quit interrupting him. From what I hear you guys had better take cover B/C theirs hell of a snow storm on it's way.
