Just my ponderosa pine "test" logs...I have more pine than I could want to burn, and you can't even give it away nowadays...the bark beetle has been killing it, so there is a bunch of it. It doesn't make the best firewood anyway, but is good for getting a fire going or just a fire for the "shoulder" seasons.

Hardwood is a "tougher" test for a saw, but I need to go scrounge up another oak test log for the video area. That larger 24" round in the video was a good test for your saw IMO, it pulled pretty well through that and I wasn't having to baby it to keep the rpms up either. If you're mostly using it for a limber, you might even want to upgrade to an 8 pin sprocket for some more chain speed.
Sounds good!👍

I cleaned out a bunch of old tires today, I was glad to get rid of them! This was the second bunch,

Hey guys, quiet day here. Helped haul some furniture out for a friend’s mother this morning and then I listed a few things for sale. Have a bunch of people wanting to buy my old rusty plow truck so I would expect that will leave in the next day. Also, trying to sell my enclosed trailer because it’s turned into nothing but it’s very expensive catch all.

My two girls were in the school play last night. They did a really good job. I brought a date along and we got a few dirty looks from my ex and another old flame that we ran into. Lol. Call me petty but their scowls were priceless.

Things looking up a bit. 3 hours in the willow bush fighting dead fall and thorn. Felt good and only quit because I hit a good stopping place. One more session and I will have an area cleared to fall 3 good sized fire wood quality trees. Even the MS400 is improing. I'm gettine one or two pull warm starts. Cold still takes many pulls but the number is decreasing. Now to go out and hit the mower for the first time this year.

Didn't quite make it. almost three hours but a bit tired. Left 3 big thorn stems on the ground. Collected a bunch of buckskin willow. My friend likes that stuff for warming up his shop. Eyeballed that first tree to come down and discoveered I'll have to do some more brushing before falling it.

Out for more mowing in a little bit.

I was supposed to go take down a couple Maples at a friend's house tomorrow but another feller (see what I did there?) cut them down. I still get the wood though, just have to go over and the excavator guy will load the logsView attachment 1075279
Is that ur four legged wood inspector?
I’ll look into it . The compressor is only 33 years old
They don't make em like they used to. Too bad u couldn't get more use out it. :innocent:

Awhile ago, I mentioned I've never lost a bar nut since buying a 10 pk of spares. Well I lost the first one today. I needed yo make one cut to cut the uprooted stump from a blown down fruit tree. Stump went to the burn pile.

Grabbed the saw and noticed chain was a little loose. Oh well, just need to make one cut. Started the saw and before the chain hit wood, the clutch cover falls off, then the bar, leaving the chain spinning free in mid air for just a second. Had to really resist from touching the chain with my hand to knock it down.

Lesson learned.

I have to watch myself on that. I've got in the habit of checking a chain as I shut a saw down. If it's snug for what ever reason I loosen it up and leave the bar nuts loose for re-adjusting before. Firing it up again. Easy to forget.

The losers dump 'em in the ditches pretty regularly around our house. Pisses me off.
Does your county or township have a tire dump day? We get to drop 12 tires once a year for free. (Just passenger tires and over sized tires cost money) it's a bit of a scheme, they don't really announce it, and you have to register a few months in advance, but it's available every year.

I have posted a couple pictures, but it has been a while now, of my brick and mortar grille/smoker. I can’t call them up from my phone though. It was sized to use a half of a steel drum as a cover. There are doors on two sides of the chimney. A bit of a learning curve to using it; every fire is different, of course. It was years before I even started trying smoking in it.

I have gotten to the point in life where I am thinking life’s too short. Like:

Life’s too short to …
Life’s too short for …
Life’s too short not to…

That “point in life” is stage IV colon cancer. It has spread out of the colon. All they can tell you is the average is two years. Too many variables to predict anything else.

In the interest of helping someone stay out of this, get your screenings done when you are told. Become aware of what the symptoms are and get them checked. I have nothing to elevate my risk except that I am over 50. Never drank, never smoked or used tobacco in any form. No history in the family. It doesn’t care. It can happen to anyone; it can happen to you.

Oh man brother sorry to hear the news.. I can relate except I did catch it soon enough. Doctors saved my life again. Meningitis at a young age, numerous bouts of pneumonia and COVID and cancer haven't gotten me yet. I'll add you to the prayer list. I'm currently sitting on a tin porch in a nasty thunderstorm ⛈️⛈️ watching life roll on by. Grab life each slice at a time. Savor it even if it's bad. It can be worse..🙏
