Unloaded yesterday's scrounge, both ute and trailer. Now have this to show for the last week's scrounging.

Some big blocks down this end. They're all either unsplittable or the grain will lead to stupid shapes if split. Might have to get Cowgirl to load them in the fire for me though

First pic made me glance as I expected something like this

Got another 661c to fix today. Can’t start it…pulling just dumps gas into the cyl until it pours out the muffler 🤪
carb or module or both is my first guess. Still cleaning it up. Man, this guy’s workers are rough on saws…
got the 362, 261 and 170 running…now need a bunch of misc parts…

found a suggestion on a different forum for the baked pitch…rubbing alcohol . it did work to loosen up the stuff enough to pry it out in chunks with a screwdriver. I think the 362 took me 3 hrs to clean 🤪.
MustangMike was in that thread I found :p

Don't know what they are called around the globe , but Hoosier way we call them there "bank logs". I like to have one for bed time that will just fit in the doors on a good bed of coals.

I understand the sentiment and agree wholeheartedly. They make me feel warm just looking at them.

Went out to the farm this arvo, mainly to give Mitch a hand with his firewood but also to try to pry some rounds off a pretty dry peppermint log. Cut and split this for Mitch. Must admit, I was tired after yesterday and unloading and S&S yesterday's scrounge. Stihl, it gives him something.

Then went to have a look at this log but decided it was too tricky. Lots of small logs underneath that may do bad things to a scroungers legs if disturbed and worst case scenario it rolls down the hill and takes out Mitch's fence.

I scrounged a few seasoned rounds and chucked them in the ute. There was some moisture in the middle of some of the softer rounds but given a week or so to dry off they'll be in the fire. As always, peppermint - looks like trash, burns beautifully. I was burning peppermint only for two months straight last year and eventually cleaned out half a bucket of ash.

Scrounge on

Nice scrounge! Especially considering that it was just a bit a day while working and doing family stuff. Scrounge on!

I still can't believe you split all that by hand. I'm aching just looking at it.

I'll see if I can get some more pics today... I did make a decent dent in the bamboo. Not enough though. I really need a decent chipper that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I found an 18hp disk chipper local for cheap, not running messaged the guy and he said someone else was coming to look at it Monday, I told him if the guy doesn't take it that day, call me and I'll be there with case.
Anyway

Wow, what a mess.
Maybe you and her could start a scaffolding rental company :).

Does anybody rent pandas like goats for weeds?

It's bad, it started raining so I ditched my phone. It's making its way down to the creek. We ran around and got all the new shoots, then started hacking. I'm borderline on dropping a pile of money I had saved for the shop to get a 3 point chipper.
I did suggest we should leave it and rent a panda... that didn't go over well lol.... back at it again, we just got down here again.

Seems like a Japanese knot weed type of situation. Once an invasive species takes hold it’s very difficult to deal with.
