I bet that thing's got some pretty good vibrations!

I've put a half dozen farmertec kits together, they all ran but they're definitely not swedes or Germans....it is kinda fun to
"build" a saw from a pile of parts, (with no instructions)....

I've thought about doing an 070/090 but I just ain't got no use for such a boat anchor.

prob plays a clean tune... looks good! clean. sounds well done...

G'day fellers,

I know what you've all been thinking. This place is just not the same without old Cowboy chewing up everyone's bandwidth with scrounge pics. Now I'll be honest, I thought scrounging season was over with 6 out of every 7 days in the last three weeks being rain at worst or drizzle at best (or maybe the other way around). Farms now just getting too wet. Will told me about these peppermint logs that he had pushed off a track that is reasonably navigable even in the wet. And today was wet. Again

Now I have no problem scrounging easy logs but in the stand of trees right behind I spied a number of fallen dead peppermints that looked nice and solid.

Several of the logs were lying off the ground and the rest I sat up on the timberjack for easy cutting. Biggest couple of trees were 16-18in at the base and virtually all as dry as a chip inside. A couple had small termite pipes up them but nothing much. A tank and a bit through the MMWS 241 today. I'm hoping Will is happy with the clean-up work I'm doing and invites me back for more.

I'm going to take this down to my brother in Melbourne this weekend. He can't tell the difference between good wood and trash but I'm sure he'll appreciate it nevertheless. Sweet no-split ready-to-burn solid broad-leaf peppermint

Only thing is, I'm not keen to OVERLOAD the trailer and then drive down the main highway to Melbourne - the fun police may interfere - so I'm going to have to level the load in the trailer with the sides - the extra can be my cut, if you will.

Ya go with what works! The lid comment reminded me of when my sons were little. They liked work with me... gardening, home renovation, woodworking, etc. Wearing PPE was the norm and they never questioned it then and now as adults they use it consistently. Anyhow, due to their propensity to work close by each other, and accidently wonk each other with shovel handles and such, I decided hard hats and safety glasses were needed at all times. It turns out that I could buy "real" hardhats for less than "toy" hardhats so they got real ones... Me... I've never regretted buying good PPE.

Thanks, that's always the case. Just don't live long enough, 8 years old. She was getting real good too.

Had a hectic night, got home to find my Sheppard acting weird, barley came out of the house to greet me. Ran her into my wife's work and basically hit a wall. Did what we could to make her comfortable and let her go. Best guess is she had cancer or a tumor and it ruptured. Whatever it was happened in under 8 hours. She was fine when I left for work, kids said she was acting tired when they got home and by the time I got home she was real bad. Think my daughter is taking it harder then I am.

That sucks Sean. Always tough to lose a pet.

How many of youins use a hookaroon at the wood splitting pile? Before ever really giving it a chance and trying it for a while I have always though it would take more time using one and be cumbersome. Well now as I get older and I went to tackle a GIANT pile of bucked wood this spring I bought a Fiskars hookaroon. love the thing though it is a little light. im goin to stop at the hardwear store and buy an appropriate diameter bolt, nut, washer combo to throw in the hole in the end to add a bit more weight to the head. works great but sometimes it needs more weight to stick in the hard woods.

i learned my lesson though with carrying a log on the hook with the handle directly below my face. hold it to the side ding dong.

I made a hookaroon a few years ago and gave it to Chipper1.

so sorry to hear. glad you got to be with her before she passed as I bet she was waiting for you.

I lost the best dog I ever had on December 31st. 2 days before my birthday. Still cant talk about her around the house. really gets us all going. you know when a dog is "the dog" , a friend like no other. 14 years with her.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Our little girl Lucy is about 15 now and really slowing down, but still going. However, I dread the day, my wife will be beside herself.

She is a rescue, and we have had her for 13 years. DNA test: Pit, Newfoundland, Bull Terrier. (we were guessing Pit and Boston Terrier).

Don't see the Newfoundland in her ... unless you bring her swimming ... then there is no doubt!

She has survived both Linus (brown) and Thor (white) and is getting a lot of grey on the muzzle and front legs.

I hear ya

it was when my girl was about 8 or 9 when she became a REALLY good listener. didn't even have to say nonthin to her. she really knew what to do by then. I could let her roam the 20 acers freely and she seldom wandered. if she did all it needed was eye contact or a "HAY!" and she came right back.

man your making me want another again.

Not sure I could bear to lose a dog, I love dogs but I've never had one. I find it hard enough losing cats.

My brother had a dog, died 2 years ago at about 14 and hasn't got another one yet. Junior was a funny dog, loved to fetch but wanted maximum retrievals for minimum effort so if there was a group of people he would always bring the ball back to the smallest human because they couldn't throw it as far.
