Yesterday while doing cleanup on the tree removals that I did I found something interesting on the ground. I found a nut that I had never seen before. Turns out that the 8 inch tree I took down was a Black Walnut. I have never seen one of these trees on our property or anywhere else around here that I can recall. Unfortunately that tree was in the way of my new grapevine rack that I am going to install.

Have a good weekend everybody. I'll be spending it at my cabin. Will try and catch up to all the posts when i return. Play nice all. :drinkingcoffee:
Same here, going up with some family members. Hope to erect another deer stand (made from the red oak I've been milling) and get other work done in preparation for hunting season.

Well fellers, I'm in trouble. Cowgirl overheard me telling another that I love her.

I've always been a swinger, she knew that when she married me. Now I take my vows very seriously but there was just something about that slim figure and angular cheekbones that I just couldn't resist.

I knew I just had to have her.

Please don't judge me. 🥺

So first up, I got swinging and split the rest of the rounds I cut last time from this manna gum. The Isocore certainly makes a satisfying crack when it strikes and it was a better tool than the X27 for these rounds.

With that done, I cut another bunch of rounds, most of which will be there to pick up next time.

I split a few to make up the load in the ute.

The previous load from this tree is drying nicely, only been in the shed for 2.5 weeks.

" swinger" lol keep talking like that and you're "axing" for it!

Black walnuts are usually round ... I have a million of em here.
I found 3 more Black Walnut trees yesterday 40 feet from the 1st one. They are growing in brush that has been there for years. It is so thick I never thought much about the trees in there. This farm was my In Laws place. Now we own it. I am in the process of cleaning up all the growth that has overtaken the property for way too many years. It is nice to see that I have these trees.
