I tried to turn the no zerk rod ends into greasable ends on my yanmar. It can be done, but still didn't make them last any longer. I ended up finding greasable joints and cutting the old ones off and welding the new one back on. (In hind sight i should have threaded the rods and went that route.) They have been on for years now with no slop that I can notice. I'm planning on doing the same to the kubota when the factory joints are really, really junk. But I'll thread the ends instead of welding them in.
My plan of attack as soon as these new tie rod sets arrive is to install jerk fittings in all four ends. Since the factory outer tie rod ends went bad early on due to no grease in them, I am not taking any chances with these.

Hopefully you have better luck then I did. Just something weird about the yanmars, don't know what it was, even the new rod ends didn't last with grease. Let us know how they work out for you.

So, I’m not sure I get this. If this chain can’t be easily sharpened back to factory angles, what’s the point?
It's better than stihl out of the box, and just as hard, so what's not to like(oh, it says husky on it ).
There is a roller guide for it that holds the file a tad bit lower than the normal husky 3/8 roller guide. This causes a more aggressive hook, and it lasts quite well as the x-cut chains are quite hard. But, if you sharpen on a grinder, just lay the head over at the same angle(can't remember what it is, then grind down about .035" and you'll achieve the same basic "hook" or forward lean. In the field you could also use a goofy file(flat with the sides rounded).
Back in the day when guys had less cash they would just do like in the video with a standard file, don't even need a round file ;).
The guy who dropped it will probably see the add and want it back 🤣
Oh well, finders keepers. If you want to make a big deal we can call the cops and let them know you had an unsecured load, 4pt ticket here lol. Not that I'd do that, I'd probably give it back, it would suck to loose it, but if you're a jerk...

Haven't seen rut set in here either. I'm thinking it's been too warm, but we're pretty consistently getting into the low 30's high 20's over night now. Dad buck he shot the other week smelled like, musk real bad, but dad said he wasn't running around or even acting like a buck in rut. Haven't been seeing many road kill either around here, which I see a lot during the rut. Just an odd season.
So I don’t really know the cold weather has anything to do with the rut or at least it doesn’t up here. By far the best deer seasons I’ve had were all during warm weather. We’ve had several seasons where we shot multiple deer on the first day, and then had to rush them to the butcher so they could get cooled before they went bad. Also, it seems like when you get a deer season where the rains for several days prior to the start of season and then the weather gets nice, the deer really like to run.

Good morning guys. We had a hard frost when I went to bed and it was already 46 when I left the house this morning on its way to 54.

I was woken at about 2:30 this morning with high winds, something thumping against the house, and my dog prancing around in his kennel downstairs. Since I have nothing mounted on the walls of my house, I wasn’t sure what it was, but it didn’t seem to be too loud so I went back to bed.

This morning when I took the dogs out, I walked around the front of the house and could see where a branch from the oak tree in front of my bedroom had been connecting with the roof line. I will trim that off, so we don’t have to deal with that anymore.

Well its as good of a sign as anything, already heard guys claim rut sets in during some for moon phase when Jupiter's 27th moon aligns with Neptune's w axis. Lol. Just being funny.
Honestly we see it start to set in this time of year, which used to coincide with the colder weather. I don't have any good reason why it would start later or earlier. Just anecdotal evidence from me and the guys at work having seen a lot of the same thing in our area. Just a slow season so far, little movement amd were all wondering when the rut will set in.

They're running around stupid over here Sean. Took the bow with me the other morning to check out my corn we picked the night before. Saw a nice 8 pt standing in my soybean field. I tried to grunt him close but no luck. A doe walked out of my Indian corn patch and he followed her to about 50 yards from my treestand. She squatted and peed. He took one sniff and I had an X-rated show right in front of me. Mostly non legal shooters though. The wife saw what she says was the biggest buck ever run right through our yard while I was by the shop splitting last week.

That's funny, we live what? 1.5 hrs apart and it's deadsville overhere in my area. Hope the action kicks up soon.

Yesterday, I saw an 8 point down here chasing 2 does ... just don't know why I don't see it happening up at the property. I would think it would happen even earlier up there, but maybe not.

I remember I always used to go bow hunting up on my Aunt's farm (near Utica) Election Day WE. The State gave us off Tuesday, I charged Monday and took a 4 day WE. That is when I got the big guy tied to the top of the Pinto Station Wagon. He had his nose to the ground following a doe scent and did not even see me till he lifted his head about 10 yards away, and I was on the ground (standing under an Apple tree, in the shadow). As soon as he lifted his head, I let the arrow fly.

Brother bow hunts; I don't. He was out the other day and watched a show. Spike buck tried to chase a doe and she wouldn't have anything to do with him. He was persistent until a six point chased him off. Then the bigger buck chased her back and forth in front of my Brother. Out of range of course.

Edit: Well shoot! That was last week. He got back today and told me, what a difference 4 days make. Things have really slowed down.

Kicked the heck out of my woodpile over the past few days. Now it is really starting to shrink. Neighbor down the road stopped by and wants 3 - 4 cord this weekend and another guy wants a few cord tomorrow. I can't wait until this entire pile is gone. My keep warm scrap wood garbage burning 55 gallon drum sure puts out some nice heat.

Dropped some more dead ash out of the neighbor's woods into our pasture. We needed to get rid of an old barbed wire fence and replace it with tape so it was a twofer. Sunshine and 60 today.

That log pile is all hand split and in the rack but have another face cord to go, refilling a 2 1/2 cord rack section a bud took home. After the wood, got the bike out for some back road cruising.

Next up; an oak already dropped and "kinda" blocked up. Out the back of our place and across a 20 acre field.

What model Stihl is that in the pic?

We don't have enough info on the Stihls to make a guess.
462, 241, 660

Pretty sure the 241 has been warmed up by one of uncle mustangs pals.

The electric starts too easy and low noise

That 241 is a little monster, figured it’d be his go to as his body isn’t the pile of muscle it once was. But he really favors that dewalt
