I had the WV Forester draw up a plan to manage my place in WV, primarily for Ruffed Grouse. I have 16 acres of mature White Oak. He said it was time to log it, and I'd make a fortune off it, they just opened a new barrel factory in southern WV. Talked to my Tax guy and he said you have to pay capitol gains on it. Next time I talked to the forester he said the bottom fell out of White Oak market. Something to do with politics, logging, and the factory wasn't making barrels. Late summer a big storm blew through and took down 20 or so of my big WO'sPics of potential whiskey barrels.The last pic is the biggest oak in the wood. Not getting cut.

Made some mittens for my grandson in between coats of shallac on the shelving unit . Came out ok definitely not a pro at it 
May I suggest this tutorial?well, i am itchin' to do something!this cabin fever is for the birds!

Only reason I did it was I have a whole bunch of lambs wool floor polyurethane applicators. Got 30 of them for .50 cents apiece .

Got a call just after 4pm today and fixed two saws for a local tree guy before dinner. He is the son of the local tree guy who was a VG friend of mine and died in an unfortunate accident last year.
Seems someone in his shop tried to fix a 462 recoil and the spring popped out on him and they could not get it back in! (been there, done that!). They also had a 362 (adj carb) saw that would not idle right.
Had both of them fixed before dinner. Have not played with many saws for a while, so felt good getting it done!
The guy who had trouble with the recoil is actually a pretty decent mechanic, and has and maintains a 1934 Dodge with a flathead V-8!

Used one to split a crap ton of wood a few years ago that my one buddy bought new. He paid $900 for it new. Pretty much the same as what tractor supply sells.

Scrounging other stuff is a thing here.
I can't remember who made them, but they are another re-badge/ regurgitated splitter with a lot in common with every other generic brand. Parts are pretty easy to get. May have a specific thing or two to make that brand stand out, but valves, pumps, cylinder, and hoses can all be sourced pretty easy.
They are a well-built unit and all the parts are off the shelf. They are very comparable to the northern tool and other 22 ton
Oh that’s just a joke for backyard lumberjack. When he gets hopped up on whatever he does, he comes in a posts 30 posts in a row.
It’s probably not as big of a deal if you have fast Internet, but for a guy up in the middle of nowhere, it takes forever to load 30 posts that could’ve been one or two. He posts every thought separately so he gets more likes, because that some sort of status symbol to him. I’m not making that up that-he actually brags about it.
It's a shame they went belly up. Customer service beyond reproach. There was a commercial firewood guy on here that kept bad mouthing them. He bragged how many hundreds of cord of wood he split with his processor. Then said he bought the DHT "Just" to split big gnarly knots he couldn't put through his processor. Their warrantee was specific, no commercial use. He argued he only split a few cord with the DHT, so it was a "home owner unit". He showed pics of wedges bent and stuck in giant knots. DHT was a member of this forum and gave us fantastic discounts. They gave him wedges, cylinders, and I think a new beam he twisted. He just kept bad mouthing them, so they started posting receipts of stuff they gave him, right up to a brand new, next size bigger machine.
The reviews we got back then were always good. I had just bought a TSC 35 or 37 ton machine and was happy with it. So, when Lowes started carrying them I looked them over. They looked like they were all common over the counter parts. A friend just rebuilt my old Huskee/TSC 22 ton cylinder for $25, plus the $11 kit. He said the seal kits have every thing for any cylinder of that size. It didn't have to be a Speeko kit, who built the Huskee's. I wouldn't worry about parts. Actually, I've started looking for Box Store splitters with bad cylinders at auctions.
