stop counting now! Then you can be honest when someone asks how many you have and your reply is "I don't know, a few."I mean that one came with 7 more, putting me over 20 total now

He's not an enabler, kid I work with had been buying up mid to late 90's ford's for cheap, and parting them out, specifically to get me the tid bits I need for my crew cab build.ENABLER!!!
Good to run that 16 gpm pump...12hp
I honestly do not remember the exact number any morestop counting now! Then you can be honest when someone asks how many you have and your reply is "I don't know, a few."
First rule for C A D sufferers...... You don't technically have a problem unless you start adding on to the shop for "saw storage"! So I say stack em high and tight!I honestly do not remember the exact number any more
Care to explain what C A D means? I am still relatively new here. I do have plans to fix up an old shed on my property dedicated to working on displaying my saws and chairs for loafingFirst rule for C A D sufferers...... Good man! I don't either and I surely won't admit to more then that. LolI honestly do not remember the exact number any more
Pffff...... If he's anything like the three bil's I got, I'd ignore his advice.Brother in-law is convinced I need to upgrade my pump from 7pm to 11gpm
What do you guys think??
Your first building is a freebie! Make it plenty big. LolCare to explain what C A D means? I am still relatively new here. I do have plans to fix up an old shed on my property dedicated to working on displaying my saws and chairs for loafing
Love your woodshed. Space to walk between the two.Threw a spare 5hp motor on the 50+ year old splitter to get her up and going to split this elm today. Nasty stringy stuff. The 20hp v-twin is awaiting a few parts then that will go on along with a new pump. Probably 16gpm...maybe more.

Woodshed is filling up. The dry side on the left, green side on the right.

I’m beyond blessed with this one, the first husband was the kind of guy that you get mad at for waste of good oxygen for the rest of us. This guy is 180° difference.Pffff...... If he's anything like the three bil's I got, I'd ignore his advice.
Thanks, built it over the winter with an aisle in mind.Love your woodshed. space to walk between the two.
The biggest benefit is the fluid will have more time to release heat in a bigger reservoir with more fluid. A bigger reservoir will have more surface area for heat exchange.Well, turns out he bought the 11 gallon for a minute already for me from the local tractor supply, it was a thank you for doing all this Firewood. He wants me to upgrade my reservoir, do you guys see any benefit from going from 3 gallon to 5 gallon? Right now it has a single 1 gallon reservoir.
From what i noticed a lot of the holding tanks act like a heatsink for the fluid. Never seen a oil cooler on a splitter but i imagine it would get damaged easily. Thanks, built it over the winter with an aisle in mind.

yes! More oil the better.Well, turns out he bought the 11 gallon for a minute already for me from the local tractor supply, it was a thank you for doing all this Firewood. Yes, but it's not to reduce damage. It's a cost factor. Big tanks with lots of oil is cheap and keeps the system simple. Really you can run with a lot less fluid if you have a fan forced cooler, thermostat and bypass would be even better so the oil is cooled once it exceeds a certain temp. Now your $2k splitter is $3k just from adding (at minimum.) A charging system and battery to the engine, a cooler, fan and thermo switch. From what i noticed a lot of the holding tanks act like a heatsink for the fluid. Exactly. Tank design matters a lot too. A tall wide thin tank works a lot better than a cube. From what i noticed a lot of the holding tanks act like a heatsink for the fluid. Never seen a oil cooler on a splitter but i imagine it would get damaged easily.
Nice splitter! I've been running a similar I beam setupThrew a spare 5hp motor on the 50+ year old splitter to get her up and going to split this elm today. Nasty stringy stuff. The 20hp v-twin is awaiting a few parts then that will go on along with a new pump. Probably 16gpm...maybe more.
