I like seeing a newer truck being used as a truck
I have people asking how I use a 2023 like that. I tell them that's what trucks are for. When I was asked about the back rack I said intact rear windows are nice to have.
You don't want to put that stuff in your stove, it will want more an hr later:laughing:.
It's too late the OWB gained weight and looks bigger just looking at the load of wood.

Yep it’s correct, there’s rigs here for millions, just depends on how big ur wallet is ,https://earthroamer.com/
I love how these guys have snorkels above the roof, in a vehicle that costs $50k to 120K before they wasted money with add ons, so they can"drive under water" with a gasoline engine. Uh huh! How'd that work out for you Sparky?

At least the sprinter has a diesel engine and might run a while longer underwater...oops, Electronic fuel injection! And a fuel tank that would take on water when submerged. Diesel engines don't run so well on water.

We had a state park where you could drive across fords of 6" of water. I liked going over there to watch the plymouth dodge slant 6s stall. Frods and shoveys stalled too, but not as often.

The Maple tree saga progressed yesterday. One more climb to drop the top off and hook my winch cable up there. The tree is down and what a mess to clean up. I have the mess where the tree is and a lot of branches beyond the wall to clean up. My 394XP with a 36" bar ripped right thru this 30" tree. There are EAB in this Maple. I'm not very happy about that.
The 394, are great saws .

Been mostly dry ground since I bought the tractor, but they don't tear up the yard like ag's and the traction is better than the what I've seen with industrials. I had to remove a lot of nasty old paint to weld that stuff together, and I think I'll be adding a couple little gussets and some chain hooks, but I'll pretty it up eventually.

Going up to the cabin tomorrow just for the day with my friend Harold. Will be bringing up the concrete we plan to use next WE (I can get it at HD for far less than the Lumber store up there, and I have to go up for other stuff anyway). Saving over $2.50 per bag for 42 - 80lb bags! That will easily pay the gas for the whole trip!

To keep it safe, I split the load - half in the truck, half in the trailer. Had not used the trailer for a while so filled the tires with air, replaced the jackstand, re-located the spare tire for less drag. I'm also bringing my HF generator up (7,000 / 8500 surge). I had previously put real air-filled tires on the back of it, but the front supports were now failing so I concocted a replacement for them. Kept me busy all day! OK, I did take a brake and visited with both my daughters and my 3-year-old grandson and 9-year-old granddaughter for a bit.

HD was a pain in the neck ... they could not put the skid where I wanted it in the truck and could not load a skid into the trailer, so I spent a lot of time "rearranging the deck chairs" (moving all the concrete bags so the weight was where I wanted it for the long drive).

Looks like it will be a nice day tomorrow, so I hope everything goes well.

They attack Maple? Dang! I don't have any ash here, but quite a bit of Big Leaf Maple on my property.

On a different note, I'm glad I got firewood done for this winter on Thursday. I got a call while I was at a birthday party for my granddaughter requesting that I go to North Carolina with a PNW Incident Management Team to assist with Hurricane Relief. I fly out tomorrow night or Monday.

Scrounged up a ruffie today. It was a beautiful morning. We flushed 7 birds, had shots on 3 and got this one. Not too bad for 1.5 hours of hunting.20241005_091842.jpgMaggie is still learning how to work grouse. Ellie did the majority of my grouse hunting but since Ellie is now retired it's Maggie's turn.
