Not sure if I mentioned, I won a Weatherby Vanguard in my choice of caliber. I chose 25-06, well the FFL let me know it arrived today, so that will be coming home tomorrow.

I was also blessed recently with another pre64 model 70 Winchester. This one a Super Grade in 300 H&H. Luckily it came with 50 rounds. As the ammo is near impossible to findIMG_9537.jpegIMG_9531.jpegIMG_9530.jpegIMG_9524.jpeg

I bought one of those off a guy in Quebec for $300. He bought it after WW2 and shot deer, moose and caribou to feed his family. Sold because I didn't reload at the time and ammo was non existent. It's one of the few firearms that have passed through my hands I'd give good money to get back.

With the Rut full swing here, not as much free time to hang with you saw junkies.

But, here’s how everything has been going

Got a nice 8 with my Xbow on Sunday morning. Made a poor shot, backed out of the woods and sat nervously for two hours. My best buddy and I went in and found him bedded down in some thick stuff.

Then my pal calls me up in a panic asking me to bring my dog over to his place as his son “shot a good buck and we have no blood”. So Gunner was loaded up and we drove across town. The dog performed perfectly and we were able to recover the young man’s best to date buck. He was VERY happy and grateful of the dog. How strange the deer was wearing a ball cap. ;)

have 75° temperatures at 11 AM. Supposed to hit 78° later. View attachment 1217008

Two days ago at my place in the mountains, it’s about 20 degrees warmer down here in the valley. I’m going back up today. Supposed to snow Monday, not sure if that’ll bring me back or not. Either way, it won’t be much longer. I’m still not set up to be there in the winter, maybe next winter. We have a sawmill coming, it’s a Norwood HD36. It’s too late for this season, but I’ll get it set up over the winter and take it up in the spring.

One thing I see with mountain forecasts in the winter, is the low temperature already lower than the predicted low. Not sure why, but it’s common.

It's pushing 80*f here today. This weather is crazy for November....

I didn’t expect to see this on November 6… nor have 75° temperatures at 11 AM. Supposed to hit 78° later. It’s a small rat snake… 3’ max.

My son found a rat snake shed up near the ridge of the roof of the house we have under renovation. This while he was cleaning the gutters.

My wife spotted one of the rat snakes that can be mistaken for a copperhead at first glance in out cellar. He was a baby, hardly a foot long, hid in the top of the door framing before I could grab him. Oh well, will help the mice and cricket population.

For strange things happing, this former Alaska Railroad GP49 wandered through WI 4 years ago:

On the scanner I heard the crew from that train talking to a eastbound it met a few miles away. The eastbound had a Quebec, North Shore & Labrador SD70ACu possibly rebuilt from a SD90 from BHP in Australia on it's way up to Canada.

Anyone else hear what the Trump said about gas, fuel prices ?? He said " a 50% reduction in the price in 12 months ". Curious as to when that begins......... I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one to hear that. Had to ask..

I'll take the clone for $300k, Alex
Better get it quickly, tariffs coming soon ;).
I'm surprised it wasn't a MAGA hat.
Yeah, even biden was caught wearing one, and the first lady had a red dress on yesterday, sure the powers that be got a kick out of that.

Yes, oils already dropped too. Imagine that...
Largest one day gain (in points) in the history of the stock market.

I love hearing the excuses today.
Lots of tears, I bet kleenex stocks went up too 😂.
Did you see Elon wants to pull Ron Paul into the DOGE team.

Why's he all krinkly?

Had an interesting conversation with my son last night. He got home from school, basically tossed him in the car and ran down to my logging buddies place. Asked him how his day was, he said his teacher was sad because of the election. I was a bit p.o. about that, as I strongly feel personal politics have zero place in school out side of political science/ history class. He went in to say she just told them that this is how the system works, the person you vote for doesn't always get elected. My boy claims that was as much as she said. If so, I guess that's OK. Still kinda annoyed me, but oh well, glad it wasn't worse then that.
