This is the first year in my life we didn't have a big family dinner. We drove 9 hours down to Black Mountain NC, just outside of Asheville, to have dinner with old friends. My wife, our friends wife, and my son went to the Biltmore this afternoon. Tomorrow Andy and I are going to hit some gun shops and see some of the damage from the storms. They said whole blocks of shops are about gone. We went by part of the River and there was solid rock along side of it. Maybe a half mile long and 100 yards wide. I said I didn't remember it? Andy said it was in crops before the storms. River took several feet of topsoil off, gone!

I missed that! And people ask why I want a full carry permit!!!
The damned enhanced safe act put a real crimp in that… seems the court action is going in the right direction but it will take a while before SCOTUS slaps NY good again.

My brother in-law lives in Marion. There is a pawn shop there that had a Teddy Roosevelt commemorative model 94

I begged my wife, she said not this trip

I know you are really a 99 guy. Didn’t see any of them locally last time I was visiting down there

I started out my day pretty good chipping brush until one of the 4 drive belts got thrown off the pulley. I think the aramid belts in it tore. Then the other 3 belts snapped in half. This is on a Valby CH160 chipper. To change the belts is not fun. The flywheel needs to be lifted up from the split pillow block bearings. Then you need to wiggle the belts under them and get them over the pulleys. I then headed for my woodpile across the street to be met by two does coming down my logging road. One of them was really big like the 121 pound gutted one I got last year. Opening season starts Monday. I have 2 doe permits this year. I took the chipper off my tractor and headed home. I'm backing in my driveway and the two does are right across from my driveway where a buck has a big scrape and rub. They hung out there nibbling on the remains of my brush pile. I know where I will be on Monday.

Had the in-laws over for Thanksgiving tonight. Went about like normal, ate some food and excused myself. Started digging my stuff out and loading my pack for hunting tomorrow. Got my 338wm out and loaded up the magazines for it, them laid out my clothes. All ready for tomorrow morning!
