Hello folks,

I have a chance to buy an older MTD 22-ton splitter at what I consider to be a very good price, and I have to say I prefer the beam/wedge attachment design on this old splitter more than I like the newer trough designs.

The only problem is, the 20-ton version has a common 4" bore cylinder with seal kits available everywhere, but apparently this 22-ton one has a 4.25" bore Sandborn cylinder, and it leaks some at the rod seal. I wouldn't have a problem rebuilding the cylinder myself, but apparently a 4.25" bore/1.5" rod rebuild kit is as rare as unicorn poop. I could probably just replace the rod/cap seal, but if I've got to take it apart I'd rather do everything, since this is an older machine.

There are no hydraulics shops within an hour's drive from here. A chart on Mymowerparts.com shows the correct seal kit being 753-0491, but searching the part number and seal sizes, I haven't come up with anything.

Any suggestions? Thank you!
