Your hickory is probably all nice and clean tho.

yeah, it gets tall and clean just like tulip here. just takes alot longer. almost always has a tiny little heart.

Its gets nice and tall here. All heart like our ash though.

if i cut any ash.....it has the tiny heart as well. its a dam shame they converted so much here to pine plantations. we could grow dam nice hardwood.

They converted alot here too back in the 30s. Most farmers kept their woods natural tho.

Luckily most of my timber is oak and hickory. I have some cherry maple and elm. I will most likely turn all the elm and maple into firewood unless I find a more profitable outlet.
I also have a little ash Burch and walnut but only a handful

The hard maple gets better than oak sometimes. I'd check into that before you burn it up.

Hard maple is definitely worth more than oak as veneer
