Hey MR. whats Weird is any fuel in a 2 or 3 cube saw with a muffler, what the heck are you cutting, a stick of juicy fruit gum. And by the way your 281 would run in the open class NOT the unlimited class unless you can get more horse power out of it than the truck you drive to work.

Rotax Robert

Thanks for the correction. Open is correct.

I think you know how the saws down here cut though.

I am going to a show on the 20th that has more classes than one could imagine. They do not have an unlimited class, but I think they would be a little slow three cuts cold start.;)

That just the way we roll in our juicy fruit country.

BTW times seem pretty consistant with the same saws from up there in Fir and our yellow pine.

I'm also ok with Dean's rules in the 5cu class....but not in the open hotsaw.

Why not have two classes and split the money? Does someone just want to look good?

I think there should be something for every one. that is why I sponsored the 5 cube class and set the rules the way I did. I also think though that there should be some alky saws and unlimiteds. There should be something for every one. This is always best for races and especially for the crowd who is paying to come watch. TJ, I say show up. I bet there will be enough presure put on the show to have alky, especially if everyone show up.

Do you guys ever have anything going on out east? i would love to go to a show....nothing seems to go on out here.

hey Dean, you going to have an 044 or similar ready for the show?
i would like to extend a friendly challenge, my 044 hotsaw against yours.
loser buys the winner a beer.

No big deal to me either way and TJ has a valid point but since I like playing devils advocate Lee did offer to run the saw end of the show which Kevin and Dave ( the kingpins of the show ) accepted. Nobody else offered that I know of. I heard some mumblings from a few other saw racers about a alky saw in the group last year but the rules were not made real clear either, but not much more was said that I know of. I would be up for having a truely open class also but separate from the gas class. Almost every show up here does not allow alky mainly due to the fact that most racers don't have 2 or 3 thousand dollar saws so the show tries to even the playing field this way as well not allowing bike/snowmobile saws, however right or wrong it may be. To my knowledge in the 17 years that this show has been running it was probably just assumed that the saws had to be gas.

Each show seems to be different, Buckley for example can be alky and pipe but no 2 piece head, other shows can be no pipe but anything goes under the cover as long as it runs on gas. etc. etc To my knowledge open class is described as any single cylinder saw and must be pull start, but maybe then my rulebook is outdated. Other classes are left to the discretion of the show hence the huge difference with the rules for each show. Cahoon is correct in the fact shows often make the rules that fit thier regular racers (locals), remember these racers are not traveling all over the country, they may only do 1 or 2 local shows a year and beyond that don't take it as serious as to name a few TJ, Cahoon, Fales, Mac Daddy, myself, etc. etc.

I hope TJ and others show up anyway, TJ has great equipment gas or alky and a great sawer to boot. Either way short of new blood comming to this show and kicking a$$ I can probably accurately guess who will be in the top 3 spots.

And where is the applause for my 1000th post???????

People that put on these shows have to deal with locals, rules, sponsors, workers, wood, classes, age restrictions, insurance, fire danger, hazardous waste, site preparation, government interference, publicity, clean-up, money and prize distribution, traditions, family and friends, whiners and complainers, and many other things that are not apparent until you step up and do it. People that attend and compete only have to show up and maybe pay their entry. If you like the show, attend. If you don't, put on your own!
You would be hard pressed to attend one of my shows and force a rule change on me. Those that feel they can, or gripe incessantly about the show, are not even allowed at my show. I notice there are fewer shows now than before. If you don't support the ones that are left, you will have few places to show off your 500cc or V8 saw. You sure can't convert them to work in the woods. Mike

Kinda what I said Rupedog...I just go with what they allow at the show. If they want gas, fine....alky fine, certain cube, fine....certain bar length, fine
If I have a saw that fits the rules, I'll show up.

good luck at sequim log show!!

I just wanted to stop and wish everone good luck this weekend!! I wanted to just clear up my view on the saw rules if the show sets the rules that fine with me,but when u got some guys that have all these unwitten rules that start popping up after they lose thats @#$%^&!!!!!:bang:I see that others think it takes 2or3 thousand dollers to build an alkie saw remind me not to go to that builder!! I have less money in my saw then it costs to buy a new 084 so maybe D.C. is working to cheep, looks like i better thank him again!!! I had lots of fun up at sequim over the last few year and if my wife was not having our baby on the 11th i'd be there!!! Later, T.J.

Good luck with the new one TJ. Should by chance you show up I don't have a problem racing against you. I myself have ran into many shows that just don't like my equipment (mostly the smaller local shows) but I just go along with what they say or don't go....I love it though when they wont let in my modiefied KD saws but want the Predator to exibition cut for the crowd, they get all or nothing.

See you at the next show then and I'll call you later.

Rotax:cheers:

Rupehogdoggie Your right that is why at the small Podunk's shows the winners just by chance are the home town boys. I know if I am going to stack the deck it better be in my favor. Now what ever happened to the high roller Macdaddy. I hear they even have some shows out East that only one saw builder is allowed. If you show up with any other saw builders saw, they speed bag ya and tar & feather ya for a enjoyable ride home. I just can't seem to figure out this whole chainsaw racing thing.

For some reason why not everyone just let them run anything in there class. We have all seen at one time or another the fully decked out saw with all the bells and whistles that would make Simonizer proud get beat by some POS 025. Once we take the fun out of it and start to make it brain surgery I guess that's the first strike in the wrong direction. Further more I think there will always be a place for the V8's and the 500's. We all love those big units out there doing there thing and the men who have built them. Mike you know the deal if that's your saw out there running you want it to win and you want everything in it favor. Build the best you can and go with it. If it can't beat an alky saw then get it on alky. Like I said if you have the biggest V8 or the biggest beer belly with a 2100 be proud and run the best out there. In the end you might win a race now and then but keep reaching for the best gear, spend a few bucks and you might all be able to get along out west.

honestly guys, the best thing for the sport is to offer as many classes as possible. Something for every one. Entry level to advanced and some in between. The best way to do this is to get invoved and help out if you can. Help get sponsors and volunteer to work some of the shows. I will say though one of the worst things a show can do is change the rules from year to year. This makes it look as though they are stacking the deck. The better thing to do is to try and add sub-classes. This is just my opinion on the subject.

next year at sequim i am planning to sponsor a 3cube class. im just not sure what the rules will be. im thinking gas with pipes allowed. pretty much a 3cube open. i may be sponsoring a mower drag class also since i will be running my John Deere/Honda CBR600 mower.

Dean......Did you know that T.J. and his sponsor offered and extra $500 in the open(chainsaw)hotsaw class, if they could sponsor the class like you are for the 5cube class? You made the rules for the class...right?(gas only, muffler only). That's what they wanted, but only to run any type of fuel. Lee said....know way!.......What's that tell you? Hahahahahahaha!

How about getting the rules clarified from Kennedy for next year for us all? Like....can you run a Mac 125 kart? Hell!....I'd even consider driving all the way up there if I knew the rules. Thanks Dennis

I say bringem all on, heck I would even like to race dennis and his honda. Of course you know what they say: Racing a honda is like racing in the special olympics, sure you may win, but your still a retard.

That oughta get the ball rollin for the weekend.
